Overall the course was helpful. I came from having 0 background in data science to being familiar with concepts and able to see the strengths, limitations, and applications of ML concepts without a coding background. The class video lectures were a bit too stiff too follow but the course projects, optional tool training, and guided mentor sessions were amazingly impactful. I’d recommend this course as a way to test the waters to see how you’ll like the field and get a solid foundation.Overall the course was helpful. Applied Data Science Program with MIT faculty and industry mentors
The course was very well structured, covering from basic statistics and Python, classic machine learning, to some of the more trendy and advanced models. For me the first part was very helpful because on-the-job training sometimes skipa the theory behind and one uses the tools without understanding the assumptions, which can lead to an erroneous application. So the fact that the course offered pre-course materials of the very basic things was really really nice. The mandatory homeworks and weekend practical sessions with industry mentors were also very helpful to ensure that the student understands and can apply the course content to real life problems. If this was not mandatory, I would not have prioritized learning and would not have finished the course. The readiness of the mentors to teach us was also very motivating and being able to ask questions in depth and also learn from other students' questions added to the learning experience. The learning platform was again very informative with a lot of practice problems, datasets, example codes, and optional videos explaining the codes that really helped me do the homeworks. Excellent data science curriculum
As someone in a managerial position, I wanted to take a data science class that has a good balance of theories and practice and the great learning curriculum was great. I appreciated solid curriculum and planning. Weekend expert sessions were great as students had chances to ask questions and go through practical examples together. Highly Recommend MIT-IDSS course on Great Learning
The course was a great refresh in data sciences and went deeper into the Machine learning concepts. It was very well put together to serve both the engineering and non-engineering community. The organization and support from the program management team made it stress free to complete the course in the middle of my busy work schedule.
