Coding Dojo

This is by far the best Bootcamp ever. If you ate willing to put in the long hours, and type til your fingers fall off, lol, then you can do this. If you have problem solving skills and don’t know how to use them, get a 500 error in Java and get back to me. If you think you already know how to code, that’s ok. They still have a program for you. I can honestly say I put more time per week learning to code and understand what I am writing, than I ever did for any job. And you will feel this way too. I worked account management for nine years and decided I wanted to change careers. I was always interested in software development and decided to join a coding bootcamp. I looked at several bootcamps and ultimately landed on Coding Dojo, due to their curriculum being tailored to your location's market and because their career services team starts with you on day one. And I am so glad I chose them!

My program started in March 2022 and ended July 1. Throughout the whole process, I met some amazing instructors and teaching assistants. I also made some great friends from my cohort. Everyone at the dojo was so friendly and helpful. The material was hard, and anyone who starts this without any sort of experience is going to struggle. However, if you put in the work, and utilize the amazing help available to you at the dojo, you can really succeed in this! 

And now that I've graduated, I'm receiving amazing support from the career services team, who are all so knowledgeable and have helped me immensely in crafting my resume and searching for new jobs. 

I couldn't be happier with Coding Dojo. If you are like me and want to move to software development, you definitely should and you should definitely go to Coding Dojo! Read less

I was able to change my career and get a job in Tech two months after I graduated! My instructors were knowledgeable, approachable, friendly and that made my experience even better.

After I graduated two of my friends signed up to Coding Dojo and one of them got a job three months after graduating at one of the top tech companies in the US, second one is close to graduating.

I took the Coding Dojo Bootcamp, Did the Python, MERN, JAVA stacks. Even though the bootcamp was all online, I felt I was really learning at a good pace with not much trouble at all. The lectures were perfect, each instructor knew what they were doing and were so helpful when I had questions. If you want to become a software developer I think the value you get from Coding Dojo is well worth it. You aren’t just paying for videos or content to read, they really provide a robust and challenging experience that I will personally never forget. The friends you make in your cohort are essential for completing the program and becoming successful. The instructors and TAs are aligned with your goals and serve as teachers, mentors, and councilors. You get career service support and are able to become part of a community of developers which helps you transition into the field. These things combined with comprehensive and engaging content all combine to make it possible to learn so much in 14 weeks. The time estimates are all accurate, you will need to spend 50+ hours per week or more to succeed, but if you enjoy coding and learning it doesn’t all feel like work. I was actually sad to finish because I enjoyed the grind but now I have the tools and knowledge to continue what is the beginning of a new journey.  Read less

I think that the methodology of Coding Dojo, in the field of education of programming, is the best. The Bootcamp of the Coding Dojo is a big challenge because learning three stacks( Python, Java and MERN) in fourteen weeks, is a little time, but with the methodology and the support of the instructors, It is the perfect place to learn programming of a form intensive and a short time.Since I began with the Bootcamp, the instructor explained in detail the different technologies and the material of the platform were from the basic knowledge to advanced and it was the form most convenient for beginning programmers, like me.The Bootcamp introduces the development web( JavaScript y HTML), Python (Flask), Java(spring) and MERN(MongoDB, Express, React and Nodejs). The best part is that we have a Loreto Larrain the attendant of career service, for me, it is new, but it is necessary to find a job. I was impressed with the process. I chose coding dogs based upon the consistency of the reviews, negative and positive. First, I would say that except for one instructor I was VERY impressed with the level of instruction, helpfulness, etc. Second the TAs were extremely helpful also and understanding and willing to always assist. This was important for me since I was coming from a completely different field. 

The things I learned here had given me an extreme confidence to go and find jobs in my area while still learning more about programming. This program takes people from 0 understandings to creating applications albeit basic, understanding how things go together differences between them and giving you experience or sometimes just a quick look at new things in JS, for example, so your not fully surprised when you see it at your job. 
Algorithms, React, apis, and basic programmer tools, are all included and make you competitive, I believe, at the end. 
One thing that really impressed me was that their learning platform is constantly updating, it changed probably 6 times in the time I was there. They keep things updated and are constantly modifying it for your good. 
Career services, the Career service person I use(d) is B. Sanchez and he is Great! Just a wealth of info 
and encouragement. 

I took off a 1/2 star for the Python instructor, I found that to be a big issue for me, but at the end my struggle of understanding with that instructor it allowed me to move on easier , but I still feel like the instructor wasn’t worth the money I paid. And the other 1/2 star would be from them not having the right dates of time off during the holidays. I went through it from November to early March and not many people knew, including instructors what the holiday was going to be like. 
In all honesty though I would really rate them 4.5 stars as the latter want that big of a deal.  

To end this I would definitely take other courses, and probably will, from Coding Dojo. Read less

I took the part time online bootcamp and loved it! I did the MERN stack option and learned so much. I enjoyed the class structure and the online learning platform was a fantastic resource. They also run a Discord server that gives you access to teachers and TAs! I would totally recommend this program for new high school grads or people making a career change (like myself leaving the legal field after 10 years)! Read less

I had a great experience attending Coding Dojo. Classes are well structured and teachers are knowledgeable. I was lucky to make some friends along the way too, and having a good community helps a lot in the journey.

Some statistics about post-grad job search: graduated in late December, started applying for jobs in February. After sending about 50-70 applications I secured about 10 interviews and on 21st March I started working as a SE for a consulting company.

My only complaint would be Career Services. My manager canceled all 3 of the scheduled meetings, I requested a change and got assigned a person who was leaving the company and during our call wasn't really engaged anymore. That got me a little discouraged so I didn't use that part of the service, although the content on the learning platform was very useful and helped me in the preparation of my resume.

As an alumni of Coding Dojo, I highly recommend this bootcamp for entry-level or junior experience developers. The structure of classes is laid out to fit the needs of individuals with no experience. The instructors and mentors are well knowledged and well versed in different languages. You will have the ability to learn multiple languages instead of one. I truly enjoyed every moment I spent at Coding Dojo. I had a couple rough patches in life during the course but the instructors were always there to help me get through it mentally and educationally. I strongly recommend Coding Dojo for anyone that is considering entering the coder life. They are hands down the best. The instructors and TAs care for you and are there to help you anytime you need it no matter what the issue. I came into the course knowing absolutely 0 about coding less than 6 months later I can make complete websites in several different languages. As long as you are willing to put your mind to it and really grind for it you will enjoy every second and leave with the greatest feeling of accomplishment being able to recognize you went from knowing 0 to knowing how to make entire websites from a complete blank page.  Read less

Huge alarm bells went off for me with this company and I am glad that they did because as I tried to cancel they got even more shady.
I tried to enroll with Coding Dojo and was all set to pay.  My wife wanted me to use a particular card to get extra miles, but it only had 12k available on it, and the course was starting soon so I needed to pay right away and didn't have time to pay down the card first.  I looked on their website, but there was no way to split up a payment without jumping onto a payment plan.  This is a bit odd since I can't have been the first person ever to want to split up a payment of over 13,000 dollars.  I called and asked if this could be done.  They said sure and they would look into making it work.  They sent me back an agreement that had me on the payment plan spending 16k instead, and assured me it would be fixed afterwards behind the scenes... But the agreement that I would sign says that the contract I signed IS the full agreement and anything else that we talked about didn't happen.

They then went back to send me a new contract and update it.  When they said it was fixed I went in to pay, but their website had me locked into the other payment portion.  It was after their phone hours so I clicked to report a problem, and was greeted with an error message that it didn't work and I couldn't report an error.  HUGE RED FLAG!

How does a company which purports to train people specifically on web development NOT have a website that works properly, and even their error reporting button is broken?!?!  WHAT?!?!?  I have pictures and documented all of this.

I was told afterwards to just click through this portion and then I could see the next screen and they would change it behind the scenes again.  But the part they wanted me to click through would be agreeing to pay them, which at this point I have decided to go with a different coding bootcamp.  I declined and told them I lost confidence in their company's ability to train me if they can't even fix their own site.

I then received 7 phone calls from their company using their auto-dialer.  They had done this a few times before when they called and it would answer then click through to a person, but this time it was just dead air, all 7 times.

I then received an email from them stating that I needed to sign a withdrawal form for the class that I never actually signed up for.  Hidden in the blue link that says "I acknowledge the Coding Dojo Withdrawal, Cancellation, or Drop Form." is actually another contract stating that my net tuition was $13,745, they haven't billed me, but some funny wording which makes it unclear on if I were to apply in the future if they would try to collect that part in addition to other tuition... not that I would apply to them in the future.

Keep in mind that I NEVER signed any contract with them.  They basically just had a series of errors on their system's part and then asked me to sign an actual contract. No, nope, no way.

To make things better I now get non stop emails, calls, and youtube marketing.  I have requested that they cease, we will see if they actually do.  But a word to the community, choose someone more reputable than this. If a company is shady and has issues TAKING YOUR MONEY, the time when they are the MOST motivated, then what on earth makes anyone think that this company would stand behind their commitment to educate and assist with your job search, the part that COSTS THEM MONEY? So I did the Coding Dojo Part time BootCamp. It started with 6 weeks of frontend then moved on to 8 weeks of backend work with either Python, Java, or MERN as your tech stack. I would have to say that they did a very mediocre job. They teach you HTML well by making you do a few assignment of building things out. CSS was also sort of the same deal with the caveat that you were not allowed to use the flex property, which later came back to bite me in the butt since employers expect you to know it. For JavaScript they did a terrible job on teaching it to us. They taught us how to solve very light algorithm problems with it by teaching us the basic syntax, but they did not: 1. Teach us ES6 which is standard in the industry today, AND we didn't get to build anything for our assignments to help us learn how to manipulate the dom and make a website interactive. However, they did teach Jquery for a bit so that was a plus. When your frontend portion of the BootCamp is done you get to chose your stack. If you look on any job listing websites for frontend/backend/fullstack you will see that 80% of the jobs want you to know JavaScript for both the frontend and the backend. But when you have to chose which stack to do, all the teachers pressure you into taking the python route. Don't get me wrong, python is an awesome language, but it's the easiest language to learn on your own. If you're spending thousands of dollars on a BootCamp, its better to get your money's worth and be taught the more in demand and harder stack being MERN (Javascript). THE BIGGEST AND MOST TERRIBLE FLAW THAT THEY HAVE IS THAT THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PREPARE YOU FOR CODING INTERVIEWS. They teach you DS and Algos for two weeks aka 4 classes for 1 hr each, in the last two weeks. So when I finished the BootCamp and went to my first coding interview, I thought I was going to do great, it turned out that I could not even pass the online assessment. They have absolutely no idea on how to teach coding interview prep. They get you from the ground to the door for software engineering jobs, but they don't give you the key for that door aka learning how to do coding interviews. Read less

While making my career change, I needed to find a bootcamp that had a solid PT program but also had support and a good curriculum. I didn't think it was possible til I found Coding Dojo's Accelerated PT bootcamp. Great curriculum, great guidance and support. I knew some html and css before the program but I can confidently say I'm a software dev at this point.  Read less

Absolutely love it! I believe that Coding Dojo is a great boot camp, with great instructors and TAs. As well, great support from CSMs and advices. Instructors create very pleasant atmosphere during lectures and motivate students. There is a lot of assignments and homework to do, but it is rewarding in knowledge you get. Would recommend it 100%.
