Finally, I decided to face my fears and joined this classed hosted by BrainStation. After a few weeks, I have to say my perspective changed completely. Spending time with 2 professionals in the area and learning how to analyze data made me realize this can actually be fun! You can learn a lot about your processes, customers, and opportunities by simply going over your own information. Now I don't feel worry anymore to play with data in Excel, mySQL, Tableau or other similar tools. Thanks BrainStation for enlightening my career with a brand new and useful skill!

I appreciated how the lessons had us look at the history of design, given that we needed to have that understanding of related principles; I found myself coming back to review them while I was working on my unit projects. Everything was built via scaffolding, and I felt that my skills consequently were being reviewed and tested within every new unit. And, when I did have some questions and/or issues about how to proceed, the mentor that Designlab paired me with was there for me! Honestly, the feedback given to me by him was incredibly helpful and it's things like these that really enhanced my overall experience. The caveat is that sometimes, your mentors might not be as responsive as you would like, so it can be hit or miss, but there's no questioning the fact that having one is something that should be the default. Finally, I loved how both the practice tasks and unit projects got me engaged to the point that hours flew by without me noticing! I didn't think I'd be this happy and excited to work on something like what Designlab has to offer, but I'm oh so happy that I found them!

What I liked was the way this course was structured, ensuring all the key topics were taught to us related to data science along with some advanced topics like machine learning and gen-ai.
The instructors were really cheerful and experienced and supported all of us through our tough times. Besides the syllabus, they also provided a lot of external resources to make sure we reached to the depths of the topic. This course has definitely helped me equip strong data science skills.
The career services team supported the students with CV writing and job-interview preparation. Overall the entire staff at WBS was supportive throughout these 4 months of time period.

While the learning progression is rapid, the curriculum is well scaffolded to bring learners along. There is a strong focus on the soft skills required to work as a part of a modern development team as reinforced by projects and assignments in teams of various sizes. Turing's ability to impart soft skills was something I didn't fully appreciate until after I had worked in the industry a few years and was sitting on the other side of the interview table. Turing graduates are well prepared to talk-the-talk of a developer technically, proficient in live coding exercises, and able to articulate pieces of valuable, non-coding wisdom they will bring to a team.

I found TTS through a local networking event where a regional representative told me about the bootcamps offered, and I decided to enroll in the Full Stack Web Development course. I had the absolute best time in this course! I learned so much about front-end and back-end development including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as specialized frameworks to create beautiful web pages and interactive applications. The back-end education and concepts we went over during our object-oriented programming in Java section were also incredibly valuable to me since I do not have a computer science degree. Overall, I would definitely recommend TTS to others who want to change careers or supplement their knowledge because the comprehensive nature of the bootcamp really allowed me to feel confident saying that I am now a full stack developer. There were about 30 people in a class and 1 instructor and 2 TAs. The course was remote and taught over Zoom used with Slack. I was able to learn multiple concepts needed to become a Full Stack Developer. We would get assignments that we were put in a breakout room to complete and get experience after the instructor finished teaching the concept. The instructors and TAs would join the rooms and help us with any difficulties.
Some other perks I found helpful was the fact that I was assigned a tutor who I could work one on one with for an hour every week, I got experience collaborating with other people on projects, I received feedback on my career materials, and I got assigned a career coach I could meet with after graduation to assist with the job search.
Only complaint I have is that some of the other people in my class were lazy and not very intelligent and wouldn't help with projects and managed to be a burden. I don't mind helping people out when they run into problems when they pay attention to what I am saying and learn. I had some people who I helped out in the Boot Camp who were genuinely trying to improve and ended up becoming better after I helped them and it made them willing to help me out but I wasted hours trying to teach certain people simple concepts that they couldn't understand after they wouldn't put any effort into the class. This isn't entirely the fault of the school as they had a process of checking the people who applied. This is something that will happen anywhere though and it is good to know how to handle situations like this in life.

The modules covered build on concepts in a way that really helps with understanding. The instructors really promote class interaction which is good for tackling these topics in such a short time, getting our engagement rather than simply lecturing at us. They also encourage participation in a class Kaggle competition, which helps with additional free-form practical application of the concepts covered in class (plus some friendly competition for motivation). Most importantly, the instructors are very interactive, hands on, and passionate. They want to see every cohort succeed in their learning and you can see the labor of love that goes into teaching us, providing quality content both in the sessions and via the course site. This really sets them apart from other bootcamps, especially those provided online.
The course covers all the hot topics in the Data Science field, grounding in the perspective that the bootcamp is looking to prepare students with a broad range of experiences. I appreciate the context they provide and the thought that went into exposing us to a little bit of everything and the skills to jump in.

I left the program feeling confident in my coding skills and having already accepted an offer with a starting salary nearly 60% higher than my previous job. I think NSS’s real competitive edge is 1) their wide network of employers who regularly hire from their programs and 2) the fact that they are a nonprofit. They really want you to succeed and get a great job, and they will do everything in their power to help you do it. Also, they want to do it as cheaply as possible, which is not the case with any other bootcamps I’ve seen. Great instructional teams, great career training, and great networking opportunities. This is a career launching program. Best decision of my life.
