I am a recent graduate of devCodeCamp's full-stack Software Engineering course. Going into this bootcamp I knew next to nothing about coding. As someone who never completed college, I thought the idea of learning about computer programming was only reserved for those fortunate enough to acquire a degree in computer science. I am proud to say that after 12 weeks, I feel job ready as a Software Developer. The curriculum is everything needed to become a full-stack developer. A huge reason I selected devCodeCamp was because of the extensive 1-on-1 time with the instructors. Having an instructor help you understand coding on a private level was an incredibly helpful experience. I am currently working with career services and it is a wonderful resource for new graduates to create a resume, a tech hire bio, and a LinkedIn account. I am looking forward to working in an exciting career with endless possibilities.  Read less

The past 12 weeks have been amazing!  The instructors and staff are all very upbeat and positive, which in my opinion is needed in any learning environment.  The curriculum covers the following and more: 
·      fundamentals of Python and Java Script·      Variables, data types, operators·      Conditionals loops·      Functions·      Debugging·      Git and Git hub·      Algorithms·      Steps to problem solving·      Object Oriented Programming·      Database Concepts and SQL·      Object Relational Mapping – ORM·      Django rest API from scratch·      HTML CSS - Copy a website from scratch/ mimic essentially·      Variables, data types, operators·      Conditionals loops·      Functions·      Debugging·      Git and Git hub·      Algorithms·      Steps to problem solving·      Object Oriented Programming·      Database Concepts and SQL·      Object Relational Mapping – ORM·      Django rest API from scratch·      HTML CSS - Copy a website from scratch/ mimic

All of this is a bit much in a short span of time but if you are up for the challenge, it's well worth it!  Keep in mind that your final 2 weeks are spend building a full stack application that you will showcase to the world, hopefully landing a gig.  :)  So it would be advantageous to start thinking about what you want to build early on (something that solves a real world problem and not just another to-do app or recipe app).  

The only criticism I have about the course is it's divergence into asp.net and C#:  The time spent on those technologies should be reserved for sharpening the core of the course, and in my opinion that was Django/React.  Also, asp.net does not play nicely with mac computers, so working in a virtual environment added an un-needed layer of complexity.  If I knew in the beginning of the course that having a pc would elevate some headaches, I would purchased one.  All in all, not a terrible experience. 

If you choose devCodeCamp, I promise,  you are being welcomed by a great bunch of folks that treat you like family.  My experience there was top-notch,  and I wouldn't trade it for anything.      Read less

 Last year at this time I was working as a receptionist looking thinking that I wanted to do something different than that. I looked into programming and thought to myself that it would be something I could really enjoy doing long term. I came across devCodeCamp (DCC) and the Full Stack Development program and decided to invest in my future. As a complete beginner in programming, I was nervous at first going into the class. After the first week of class, and great instruction, I got super comfortable and got even more excited to learn new skills. Fast forward 6 months, having learned Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Django, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, and so much more; I am super excited to start my career as a Developer!

After it was all done, DCC's career services and their talented team of professionals, started to guide me with resume workshops, and LinkedIn building. My name is Quentin Hicks. I'm from Tampa, FL. Prior to devCodeCamp's bootcamp I was attending another school in a degree field that I didn't really care about. Found devCodeCamp and never looked back. 

The experience is nothing short of amazing. The curriculum was straight to the point with projects that reflect the languages and technologies. I loved it as this was great harmony for my learning style. The instructors were understanding, patient, humorous, and fun. I enjoyed every second learning from them. My classmates were great with a can-do attitude. 

Career Services is astounding and has been a tremendous help in getting me work ready when it comes to building up my professional profile on LinkedIn, creating a solid resume, and how to approach posting on social media to attract potential employers.

I learned how to build projects through a variety of languages such as Python (my favorite), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React to name a few. I learned the difference between backend and frontend technologies and how to integrate them. It was exciting, and frustrating, for me to build a project from scratch to launch. This incited me to keep pursuing interests in coding/computing/IT and has helped me revamp the way I learn when approching new tech. Read less

For the past 4 years I worked as a materials engineer. While looking for a new role, I realized that the opportunity to solidify my hard skills was perfect and I began to look to enroll at a coding bootcamp to learn to utilize programming to solve problems. I shopped around for a few bootcamps, and decided to pursue devCodeCamp due to the support during enrollment, graduate testimonials, and outstanding veteran benefit of accepting the GI Bill. 

As someone with no familiarity with programming, the early days of the course after enrollment got me set up for success; with the instructors explaining IDE operation and languages to us ahead of time, and getting review materials for use before the class start date. The class schedule is an extremely beneficial program consisting of instruction in the morning, and practical application in the afternoon. Starting from the bottom with the basics and transitioning to understand all the different parts of full stack development was similar to how I had been taught other engineering subjects in my university experience which really helped me to build the foundation to continue forward. The instructors, even in the completely online course that I was a part of, make sure to help you ask the right questions when coding to keep you on the problem solving path. 

After graduating the course, I had found a real enjoyment for coding and solving the challenges that presented themselves when creating applications. I wanted to pursue software development options after graduation, and the career services provided that I am currently utilizing are helping me to jump the hurdle and make a more development-focused approach to the job search. 

I am excited to continue learning and applying the skills that I had learned at devCodeCamp as I transition over to a new role. I would recommend the full stack development course for anyone that wants to make a career change, or fortify their own skills. Read less

My experience with devCodeCamp (DCC) began when I was initially researching my options for a career change from the military and I was interested in learning programming. DCC stood out to me right from the get go due to their awesome outreach, as soon as I sent an email I was able to contact enrollment and I was speaking to someone the very next day about what I could expect from DCC. Researching the right coding bootcamp was an intensive experience, but DCC made selecting the right coding bootcamp easy.

Beginning class was a painless experience. They give you study materials a weeks in advance of the first day so that you can get a basic understanding of the fundamentals you'll be using on your first day. The instructors were extremely down to Earth and very easy to interact with. Lessons were well structured and I never felt overwhelmed as long as I followed instructions and payed attention in class. If I did fall into a rut, instructors were readily available and happy to help. Everyone in the class was easy to get a long with and that made group projects easy to integrate into.

After it was all done, DCC's career services took over, and they are an incredibly talented team of professionals. Resume workshops, mock interviews, and LinkedIn building, no punches were pulled in their post graduation program. And on top of all the personal help they give you getting you ready for the career field, they have the job and talent network to back it up. 

I learned a lot at DCC, before I started I thought python was simply a snake, but now I can speak its language in lines of code. DCC was exactly what I was looking for in a program that got me work-ready for a career change in as little as 4 months. I can't wait to apply the skills I learned from DCC.   Read less

Hello, I am a recent graduate of devCodeCamp's full-stack development course. I come from a background of knowing very little code to now having the confidence to build a website. I thought only people with degrees in computer science could do it, but that was not the case. we started the course with python and learned basics such as variables, conditionals, functions, etc. I think devCodeCamp does a good job of explaining these concepts to a beginner. The curriculum is well taught, instructors are willing to support students when needed, and I had great supportive classmates. I am currently working with career services and it has been well structured for new graduates to build out a resume, a tech hire bio, and a Linked In account. I learned a bunch of technologies from dCC first with Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Django, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, DevOps, and so much more. My passion for coding began when I started my own videography company. I was starting to create my website when I began to wonder what went into making a website versus using a website builder online. I quickly went online to see what I could learn about it which led me to my first coding experience and that was making my own personal resume with HTML and CSS. This eventually led me to set aside my business as a hobby and pursue my career in coding through DevCodeCamp. I was very pleased with the way we just jumped right into coding. With only a little coding experience I thought the instructors did a very good job at explaining things right off the start and I was instantly learning things.  We didn't have to sit through days of lectures before we were coding we just jumped right into within the first half of the first day. By the end of the first we we were given our first project. I was very happy with how fast we jumped to bigger and better projects. It was very exciting watching them progress as we kept learning new things and made me love it even more. We learned so many things I was very impressed, we learned Python, Django, Django REST Framework MySQL, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript, react, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, Postman, AWS, DevOps, CI/CD Pipeline, Web Services & REST API, Visual Studio Code, and JSON web tokens. After completing DevCodeCamp I am excited to see what my next big learning adventure will be.

As a young, inexperienced programmer, I entered into devCodeCamp, with minimal prior experience, but a broad foundational knowledge of concepts.  I partook in the Web Development course and the beginning days were focused on building a strong base.  It picked up quickly and took on a fast paced nature that persisted throughout the entirety of the course.  The instructors for class were well-balanced between guiding and not just giving you the solution outright to the problem at hand.  The curriculum was well documented and a large part of why I chose this bootcamp in particular.  I had only minor issues with how some of the information was introduced and upon completion, when I brought these concerns up, I was assured that they agreed and had already implemented change to rectify the situation.  Overall, a very intimate learning experience with a group that feels natural, and close knit from admissions, to instructors, to classmates, all the way to career services, which is extremely knowledgeable and guiding. I've had a varied professional experience in life. I am a veteran of the US Navy where I was an Arabic Language Analyst, have a bachelor's in music composition, and worked as a geo-location operator for the NSA. I've always had a great interest in building creative, logical structures (musical or otherwise), technology, and languages. I am excited to start a career in software development because I believe it's in my wheelhouse, it's expanding more and more, and there is great upward mobility.

I started DevCodeCamp with spotty experience in programming. I had learned things off and on for a couple years before. We immediately went straight into making functional projects. It wasn't just "hello, world" and small, simple exercises without much meaning. I was very pleased how quickly we moved into bigger and bigger projects and how all of us actually learned enough to complete them!

We would get lectures on the technologies we used and then be given project assignments. While we worked, the instructors were available to help us with any questions or issues we were having so that we could learn like it was on-the-job. In my particular class, all the students were dedicated to helping each other out during and after class hours ended (we all started a discord server to talk to each other after class). I couldn't have done it without the instructors, but also my fellow students. Everyone was incredibly supportive and helpful. Because of the support from all sides, we all passed the course with flying colors.

The curriculum was quite comprehensive. I am happy we were able to cover so much ground. We learned Python, Django, Django REST Framework MySQL, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript, react, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, Postman, AWS, DevOps, CI/CD Pipeline, Web Services & REST API, Visual Studio Code, and JSON web tokens. I'm very confident that the experience I gained has prepared me for a junior software developing position.

I came into this school with little to no knowledge of coding besides my desire to learn, they took that desire to learn and transformed it into knowledge. In a short time I was writing code that I would not have been able to even understand the week before. They truly took my passion to learn and turned it into a career field for me. I can now design and develop full stack applications and understand what already written code is attempting to do. Just last year I was a full-time pharmacist. I took a leap of faith to pursue my passion for software development. My time at devCodeCamp has been wonderful. The instructors made it fun and easy to learn, while providing priceless tips and support along the way. The curriculum allowed me to become proficient in working individually as well as with teams. From knowing nothing about coding to becoming confident in my Python, JavaScript, React.js and other skills I have never doubted the utility of this bootcamp. After graduation, Lauren and Paul at Career Services made it very clear they are here to help me with my job search journey and I am so glad to have them by my side. As someone who didn't know very much about computers, let alone software development, my time with devCodeCamp taught me more about web development (MERN) than I could have imagined.  My first impression of devCodeCamp was established before I even started.  As a fresh veteran, I was looking to use my GI Bill for a program when I had found out that many boot camps were no longer accepting GI benefits due to the bill set to end their use by 12/21/2021.  The team at devCodeCamp were kind enough to alter the curriculum of one of their classes just so they could help us vets get the training we needed before the opportunity expired.  It was a grueling course, but we had fantastic instructors working with us.  The program was very project-oriented, and besides receiving the lectures it felt more like we were being guided rather than instructed.  The instructors never gave us the answers, but instead gave us the resources necessary to discover the answers on our own.  This aspect was integral in building a strong foundation of skills needed for a career in web development.  After graduating, you can choose to join the career services group where you are greeted by a strong support system geared to help you find your first job.  Learning everything so far has been very exciting, and learning more by exploring new technologies has only become even more exciting.  Thank you, devCodeCamp, for helping me learn so much! I started this year off working at the United States Air Force Academy as an onsite EMT for the athletic department.  While there I was tasked with designing a testing procedure for detecting COVID-19 in the cadet athletes so that they could continue to practice and compete.  Within 2 weeks I had designed and manufactured, with a 3d printer, a device that enabled us to test 100+ athletes per hour and provide results within 15 minutes. While at the Academy I was introduced to the world of programming through a fellow Airman.  I then started to learn programming on my own doing different online self-paced courses.  After struggling with that I found devCodeCamp and their Full Stack Software Development course.

I enrolled in the Full Stack Software Development course through devCodeCamp and learned a great deal in such a short amount of time.  Not only did I learn coding in multiple languages, but I also learned the how to learn.  Everyone thinks they know how to learn to some degree but one of the invaluable lessons that I experienced was how to tackle new problems and solve them utilizing a variety of resources.  The curriculum can be a little intimidating but with the great instructors I was able to accomplish my goals and create great applications.  I would have never thought this is where I would be, especially in such a short amount of time.  I went from the medical field in both the military and in the civilian market to now being a full stack software developer.  What a great experience and would definitely do it again if given the choice.

Even after completing the course, they offer career services, which is another great thing about this place.  Other places push you out the door after you are done and it's up to you to try and navigate the industry and find a job.  At devCodeCamp that offer one on one help which is amazing in today's world it can be daunting trying to find a job, especially in a new field, but they help with multiple areas such as your profile, resume and even building an individualized website.

I never thought I would have had such a large shift in my life, I couldn't be happier being in a field that I enjoy and am excited about all the possibilities that are in front of me.  I know that I will bring all of the knowledge from devCodeCamp to benefit any team that I am a part of in the future. I've known for a long time that I wanted to develop software. In 2018 I began a Computer Science degree, and I loved the Software Development courses I took, but after a year of working full time, going to school full time, and being a full time single parent, I realized I was not going to be able to give all my responsibilities 100% for 3 more years. I was forced to leave my dream behind and continue to work and parent for my mental health and my daughter's wellbeing.

In September of 2021 I had a job offer to become an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA. Accepting this offer would increase my yearly salary by 2 to 3 times the amount of money I make in my current position.

At first it seemed like a no-brainer. I'd accept the offer and go on to do whatever it is an Air Traffic Controller does. Once trained I figured I might like the job. But, what if I didn't? I came to the realization that I shouldn't be chasing a high paying job that could potentially make me miserable. I need to be chasing my dreams and do work I find fulfilling.

With this epiphany I began researching coding bootcamps because while 1 - 4 years of school, work, and parenting was too much for me to handle, I knew that I could handle 3 - 6 months juggling all three.

My research led me to devCodeCamp. Not only did their Web Development program fit perfectly into my schedule, but I could also use my GI Bill benefits earned while serving in the United States Coast Guard.

Once enrolled, I promptly backed out of my job offer, and blew through my pre-course work, which left me hungry for more. Before the course started, I knew I had to do everything possible to go above and beyond to absorb as much knowledge as possible from this opportunity.

Words cannot express how fortunate I am to have found this program at this exact point in time. My instructors at devCodeCamp were extremely knowledgeable, patient, and personable. It is obvious they have a passion for their mission, as countless times I received mentorship, instruction, and encouragement after hours or on holiday weekends when stumped by a difficult problem.

I have learned more in 3 months at devCodeCamp than I did in 1 year in my Computer Science program, and it isn't even close. I feel confident stating that devCodeCamp has provided me with the growth and in-demand skills to fulfill my dreams of becoming a competitive developer.

Perhaps, one day, when all conciseness is merged into a singular AI, everyone in the devCodeCamp family will know the extent of my gratitude, but until then, thank you. Read less

The Full Stack Software Development course I took through devCodeCamp was more than I expected, in a good way. You are immediately thrown into the curriculum and learn new things immediately.  The course can become difficult at times but as long as you stay consistent and ask for help when needed, you will be just fine. Overall, it was a great experience that gives you the skills to succeed as a developer and in other parts of life. Read less

This course starts off very fast and can be confusing if you let it. I had no coding experience when I started off and felt like I could've made a mistake. I stuck with it though and after the first couple of weeks I started getting things. The instructors knowledgeable and attentive. I was able to get a response from them when I needed help, they would lead me into the right direction sometime making me work the answer out vs just giving me the answers. You build a good relationship while in the course as we spent 5 hours a night over 4 months with each other. The overall all course was good and enlightening, even though I don't agree with how quickly some of the projects were due. After taking this course you will have a nice portfolio for future interviews. I do recommend this bootcamp course.  Read less

 This course starts off very fast and overwhelming. If you have no experience coding, you are in for a tough time. With that said, with proper study time after class and asking for help from the wonderful instructors, I promise you that you will be surprised by how much you actually know from the course. The instructors are the highlight of the course. I was always able to get a response from them and whenever I needed to bounce ideas from them, they would lead me into the right direction without actually giving me the answer(Which I appreciate). You get a sense of feeling that they want you to succeed as much as you do. The overall all course was good and even though I don't agree with some of the projects requirements, it did expand my mind to try and find a solution. After taking this course you will have a nice portfolio for future interviews. I do recommend this bootcamp course.  Read less

I know some of you are reading this and contemplating taking the course or even just apprehensive about being a developer. What I am going to recommend is that you first look into programming and see if it's for you. Not a lot, just a few videos on YouTube and maybe open up an IDE to write some code. Once you know that this industry is for you, take the course AND put your heart into every day. I personally came into this course with a solid foundation of coding/development from self-learning and college curriculum, but you must trust me when I say that you do not need it. A friend I made during from my cohort came in with zero experience and is likely looking at his first offer in less than 2 weeks after completing the course. He put in many hours after hours, proving it can be done. If you worried that you are slightly advanced for the course like I was, that's fine! I felt that way too! After going through the course, I can tell you with confidence that you will only have the opportunity to learn at a more rapid rate, considering you may know a language or two already. The value of the course comes from the instructors guiding you along a path in learning technologies that you don't have to research. All of the planning is complete. You just need to learn and trust the process. I had an offer within 6 days and I'll admit that was fast, but it has changed my life! Read less
