This bootcamp was a great way to learn how to start coding in a few different types of coding languages. It was fast paced, but it helps you prepare for the real world when you have a career in the web development world. It was very project based which helped a lot. The projects helped you learn how the certain type of coding language works. There were group projects and this helped you learn how to code a project as a team. The group projects helped you learn to work as a team. After you complete the 12 weeks, they help you find a job which is a great aspect. Overall, this coding bootcamp was worth it.

I was lucky that a friend connected me to devCode when I was looking for a career change.  From my first visit, the staff were honest about the expectations of students; they told me it was going to be challenging work.  I came into the course with a mindset that I would need to dedicate myself to the work.  Throughout the process, I was given the challenging work I was promised. I was able to do the work because of the instructors that are literally available day and night to help when you get stuck.  Students have constant access to qualified instructors (who love what they do) during the day, and then are able to use Slack to connect with them after hours.  One of the best parts of this camp is the director of curriculum.  As a former teacher, I know good instruction when I see it.  He uses best practices consistently in his planning.  Everything is organized, the lectures do not shy away from giving the theory behind concepts, and the projects are carefully planned.  In addition, I received quick and beneficial feedback on every project I completed.  With this skill set and having proved that I can create fully functioning web applications in just 3 months, I feel confident going into my first career.  I should add, there are excellent career services for grads.  There is a full time former recruiter who knows the hiring landscape incredibly well.  If you go to this school, you will have a team of people helping you to find your first job and beyond.  If you’ve been looking for a bootcamp, I can’t imagine a better place to start a new career.

Ten years ago, after graduating high school, I started attending college for computer programming. I completed some courses, but life moved me in a different direction. Fast forward to June 2018, I decided to make a move back toward my goal of being a programmer. I have a friend who had gone through devCodeCamp and had landed an incredible job shortly after graduation, so I decided to also attend.

I’m not going to sugar-coat anything. The program is incredibly challenging. It is a fast-paced, full-time course where the goal is to go from zero experience to being ready for a real junior software developer job in 12 weeks. The course is built around solving real-world business problems the same way you would on the job. Google and Microsoft documentation will become your best friend! The instructors are always there to answer questions if you need help, but it is always expected that you try your best attempt at solving the problem, then if you cannot find the answer, the instructors will help guide you.

As well as being challenging, it is even more rewarding! I learned more in my first week at devCodeCamp than I had learned in my entire coding experience before I attended, including my time in college. Their method of teaching truly works for learning quickly and effectively without focusing on things that aren’t applicable to a development job. The instructors are top notch and Paul (recruiter and job-search-guru) is always there for help with anything regarding your resume or job search questions. They are always working tirelessly to make sure that students are getting the best education and career advice they can!

To wrap up, my opinion is: if you are willing to put in the work and dedication it takes to become a software developer, this program is a GREAT start to a future career in coding! It really is a ton of fun in the process and it really does work!

The bootcamp is designed in a way to be for both beginners and more experienced individuals. Everyone can have a different starting point. The first topics covered are HTML and CSS which for some can be all new material but for others a refresher. The curriculum ramps up quickly as it moves to Javascript where the first few projects take place. Within a few weeks in everyone seems to level off equality due to the assignments, projects, and tasks start becoming more challenging but they are still great to learn from and are manageable if the effort is put in. From there on once good fundamentals are engraved into the students there is yet more technologies to learn such as C#, ASP.NET MVC 5, Entity Framework, Bootstrap, which was quite impressive considering that the technology stack learned was actually what the companies in the area were looking for and needing. From the research that I did prior to choosing this bootcamp this was one of the only bootcamps that prioritized a relevant technology stack rather than purely something easier to learn which really helps when searching for a job position. Within a day of posting my resume online, I had interviews which I give credit to the technologies covered within the bootcamp. Amazing experience to go through, the instructors were phenomenal and were able to teach so effectively in the short amount of time they are given.

This is a great program that literally takes you from knowing nothing about coding to being able to hold down a (well-paying) job in a very short amount of time. What more is there to say?? The instructors are nice, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the hours are good. 
I went from working on the weekends as a janitor to being employed as a test engineer. I spent 3 months learning coding at devCodeCamp, and about 3 months after graduation I had a job. It's a happenin' field that is only going up, so I'd suggest hopping on the bandwagon! 
A word of caution, though--it's not for everyone. Not everyone is willing to give their all, be frustrated continuously (it's part of the learning process), and not quit. Make sure you want to do all of these things, and you will succeed! 
I can honestly say that going here was a blast. I looked forward to Mondays so I could go start another week at devCodeCamp. :)

  I came to devCode with very little to no experience writing code. Throughout the 14 weeks in this camp I learned more than I could have ever expected to. It's all about what you put into it. They teach you the skills you need to be successful, help with getting your resume clean and relative, and then it's up to you to continue the process and go find a job. I showed up everyday, even after I finished the program, until I got a job. They helped me all along the way because I was putting in the effort... if you're expecting a walk in the park course this isn't for you. It's intense. But I now have a wonderful job doing something I truly love everyday at one of the biggest company's in the state and I'm loving life.

I attended devCodeCamp in the spring of 2017. My background included work in transportation research, and teaching. I had previously obtained two majors and a masters degree from traditional colleges, but didn't have success finding gainful employment in Southern Wisconsin. So I decided to retool my skill set. I had always enjoyed the introductory programming courses I took in college and had some experience with WordPress website development on the side, but wanted to expand my programming knowledge and hopefully get into the software engineering career-field. devCodeCamp is as fun as it is intense. It's a lot different than traditional 4-year college or technical schools. They really believe in learning by doing. Your results are largely reflected by the effort, dedication, and willingness to continually challenge yourself. You will have a class made up of people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, ages, and skill levels, but the instructors do a great job of identifying each students strengths and weaknesses. They work hard to tailor your DevCodeCamp experience for the individual students. By the end of the 3 months I had gained a marketable skill that is in high demand. I landed a job about a month after graduation and had multiple companies interview me. I never expected to get such immediate results. For anyone willing to work hard, sacrifice long days, and not afraid to learn at a fast pace, I highly recommend devCodeCamp. It is suitable for a career change, or jump starting your programming skills for new grads, or people that have no higher education experience at all. I took the Full-Stack Web Development Course at devCodeCamp. Long story short, I feel I learned barely anything. They lie and say you get career support which you don't unless you pass the class. Most of the students in my class did not pass. They barely offer you support on the last project which weighs most of your grade. You pay the same price of $15,500 for both full time and part time which makes NO sense because the full time students learn way more and is more marketable as an employee. For $15,500 to just learn javascript and a couple back end languages isn't going to get you job ready for the real world. Do yourself a favor and learn on your own. You can do it! What I learned, i would probably pay dCC only like $3000. Not worth the money. I can't speak for other bootcamps, but you're better off self-teaching and getting courses on udemy. Seriously. I wouldn't waste your time and money. You also do not work on projects long enough to make them portfolio ready.  Read less

Their website www.devcodecamp.com is showing unavailable now for a while.  I made phone calls to them and the calls show a recorded message "the call cannot be completed".  I searched online to see if they are operating under a new name and nothing was found.  They were having a few week ago the part-time full bootcamp for some $2,000 and change which for me was a red flag since only udemy offers low prices but a bootcamp the cheapest never charges that low.  This bootcamp in the past had excellent review from students but I know they were not having enough students enrolled to survive this economy and be profitable.  This review is based on my own experience. DevCodeCamp is a great boot camp.  The instructors are very knowledgeable and ready to help.  I always felt supported in my course work no matter how small my questions were.  I felt like the course work covered is very applicable to the jobs I am applying for. The assignments and projects were challenging but doable that gave me a sense of pride when I completed my work. I would have liked to have more time covering SQL topics but that is the only thing I would change about my experience.   Read less

I recently graduated from the 16-week full-stack development program. I started in the flex program, which is self-paced, and made the decision to switch to the full-time program because I am the type of learner who needed that full-time in class experience. This course was incredibly challenging and absolutely doable for anyone who doesn't have coding experience. 
The instructors are super helpful and offer thoughtful answers to any question you may have. I found the answers often prompted further research or insight that did not just give the answers. The instructors come from a variety of backgrounds and offer insight on all types of opportunities.
I have just gotten started on the job support, but I expect DCC to offer the same type of insight and experience that their course work provided. They have been nothing but class. Read less

Devcodecamp is an amazing overall bootcamp to go to, they help you learn what you need to be successful in the industry, I was in the program an it was self paced, but it was also with a schedule for you to go to by so you can stay on track and know when to reach out for help if you were struggling with a specific topic, and when I did I was always welcomed with very helpful, patient, and informative instructors. Once I passed the course I was then helped by the wonderful people in job assistance that helped me build a resume, and reconfigure my LinkedIn profile correctly for the software engineer industry. I found devCodeCamp as a result of not being able to afford college. I started my post-secondary education at a 4-year university, and after completing 3 of the 4 years, I could no longer pay for it. That's when I started looking for other options. I knew that I was decent at coding, so I started looking at software development bootcamps. I came across close to a hundred bootcamps and felt overwhelmed by the amount of options. Thankfully, devCodeCamp recruiters were determined to reach out and tell me about their program!
When the recruiters reached out, I did not feel pressured by them like I did with other program's recruiters. devCodeCamp simple asked that I take a look at their FREE Intro to Python course. After completing that free course, I was excited! I didn't originally have a love for coding, however after taking their free course, I got a feel for the general atmosphere of the program. I was quick to call back the recruiter and get more information.
The recruiter was very nice, and answered my call in the first couple rings. She then addressed any concerns that I had at the time. I never felt that I was being lied to or coerced into joining their program. I could tell that they only wanted to better students by getting them into an ever-growing field.
Pricing:devCodeCamp may seem expensive at first glance, however, the cost was miniscule compared to what I paid for the first 3 years of university. For only $12k, I was to receive a better education with more support than a $60k degree. The pricing is more comparable to a trade program than a college program. In the field that devCodeCamp teaches, that amount of money for an education is unmatched.
Curriculum:devCodeCamp stays on top of industry favorite technologies! Everything that is taught at devCodeCamp can be directly translated into the software development industry. I have conducted meetings with various senior developers and tech company owners; they all say the same thing. "The program that you just completed seems to have taught you everything! I didn't expect you know about this tech stack." The material is very easy to understand. I may have had a background in technology, but even someone with no previous experience could pick up the content if they dedicate themselves to it.
Job Support:I can't speak too much about job support yet, seeing how I just graduated and am still going through career services. What I can say is this; as of now, the career services department has not failed me. I am one week in and I already have multiple companies contacting me regarding potential employment. I am excited to see what else the offered job support can offer me as an alum.
To conclude, I know how scary it can be to leave the traditional 4-year university that is so hyped up. devCodeCamp and their amazing instructors have given me the assurance that I needed to step out of the cliché college world, and into the bootcamp world that has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. I can confidently say that I am prepared to enter the workforce as a junior software developer. This program is NOT a waste of money. Read less

After spending the last 12 years working in the HR field, I wanted a change in my career and since my path started out in a technical field, I knew that’s what I wanted to get back to. My passion for working with technology was something that always seemed clear in each position I held, but I didn’t know \where to start in making that dream become a reality. 

That’s when I found devCodeCamp’s Full-Stack flex program. The advisors did a thorough screening on why I wanted this and discussed any potential barriers that might stand in my way. Starting into the program seemed easy at first, but as I found out, the program started scaling up to be a little more difficult each week. I remember telling my instructor that I originally wanted to be a front end developer, but the program did a good job of highlighting strengths and opportunities for frontend or backend development.

Having some experience as a programmer/analyst in my background helped a bit, but not as much as I thought it would. I feel like it seemed easier to forget all that I had done in the past and just start fresh to learn new habits. The group lesson each week was incredibly helpful and James did a good job of highlighting potential challenges each week. 

Another thing that I really appreciated was how well received the questions were that my classmates had in the group sessions last Fall. The groups were broken out by subject, but it seemed that no matter who the instructor was, each one had the ability to gauge how deep to go in finding the answer. 

After getting the news that I had successfully completed the program, career services started helping me to tailor my resume for the transition, market myself through LinkedIn, and send me opportunities to apply for. I’m so excited to slowly see my dream becoming a reality and be in a field that thrives on collaboration. I can’t wait to learn more and evolve with technology!

I’d been interested in learning coding for years and when I finally decided to pursue it I'm glad it was with devCodeCamp. I dabbled very little in coding languages before (Pthon, VBA, SQL) but I realized I would not be able to make the progress I’d like without a structured program. My recruiter at devCodeCamp (Meghann) was very personable and I really felt like she had my best interest at heart. 

The course is very well detailed in the syllabus; I did not find that there was anything surprising. I had weekly 1:1s with an instructor which were great for asking questions, gauging progress, and expressing any concerns.

I felt more at ease reaching out to my instructors than most of my college professors. They were easily accessible, patient, and extremely well-versed. Whenever I was stumped, I would either send a screenshot of my code or paste my repository link. The instructors would help me out through chat, record a quick video on their own to send to me, or even jump on a call live with me. They helped guide me through my questions rather than just giving me answers.

The course also covered professional concepts like debugging, efficiently researching, understanding documentation, Git, Agile principles, and “standups” for project progress.

My one wish was that there was more interaction within my cohort. Since it was a flex program, we may have all been at different points of the course so there was little conversation in our chat channel. There were points where I felt like I was going through it alone as a student. 

Overall, I’m very happy with my experience. I knew it was going to be rigorous, but the instructors and the structure and timeline of the content was very doable. I feel like I’ve gained more hard skills in this six-month program than I did in four years of undergrad. I feel confident in what I’ve learned but realistically I will only know the impact and my preparedness once I’ve been exposed to a role implementing what I’ve learned. 

Advice to students:-          Ask your questions! Take time to research on your own and let the concepts marinate but realize the point where you’re doing more harm than good by wasting time. The instructors are happy to help you.-          Be realistic about how challenging it will be going in. It was very tough but I was also able to still have a life outside of class and working my full-time job. -          Note the time of year you start the program. I started the six month program in July and ended around mid-January which end up being the busiest months of the year for me (and I’m sure many others).

Going into DevCodeCamp I had minimal computer knowledge but no background or practice in coding. The course was very easy to start off and is ramped up in a steady fashion. There was no point I felt as though the course was not workable. There were times when roadblocks did occur but the instructors were quick to help. I never felt looked down upon for having a question, in fact, the instructors congratulated me for having questions and showing that I wanted to learn the material. When I left the course I did feel like I could make a career from this learned experience. I felt accomplished and the instructors reinforced my confidence to take on the careers ahead.

I graduated from devCodeCamp as a Flex student back in October of 2022. I was one of the first to participate in the flex opportunity and was able to successfully complete the program while still having a full time job, and even a second part time job, AND I got married! The camp was extremely flexible with everything I had going on and they were constantly supportive and making sure I was set up to succeed. After graduating, career services assisted in helping me create a resume and they also kept me updated with open job positions. Because of them I have gained tools to land a job as a local web developer. I completely recommend taking this course whether you are just breaking into the field or even just wanting to freshen up on the newest and most relevant skills in the industry.  Read less
