    A huge disappointment

I recently completed the GA and I must say, it was a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for this bootcamp, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete waste of time and money.

First and foremost, the cost of this bootcamp is exorbitant. The marketing hype led me to believe that I would be getting top-notch education and valuable skills. However, I quickly realized that I could have found something much more affordable and equally effective elsewhere....

    Practical and enriching

The campus is a beautiful place to study and I think the course made the right choice in it's approach of letting us do multiple projects, instead of focusing purely on the theoretical. Getting to work with a real client for the final project gave us the edge over students from bootcamps elsewhere.

Left a lot to be desired via remote learning

I figured I'd share my experiences since finishing my software engineering course. There are things that are intentionally held back until after you join your cohort. One of those things is more information about the milestone projects. I was trying to better prepare myself for what was required of me by asking these questions. When I asked about the markers of success and how you were graded to proceed successfully throughout the course, I was given a generic pass or fail but it's actua...

    Worthwhile and Successful Experience

The time spent within my General Assembly Immersive provided me with a solid foundation to build and base my skill sets upon. I've utilized my relationships and newfound knowledge to set off on a path to changing my career. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to build a foundation of relevant skills in the software engineering world.

    Life changing

After quitting my job as a Math Teacher. I attended General Assembly to learn new skills that I could use as a Data Analysts. The best part about the program is that there is a co teacher in the classroom that helped students who had problems navigating the material or understanding the material. After I completed my course I was able to obtain a job offer and start a new career as a Data Analyst. I’m so grateful that I gave General Assembly a try because I love my new job. I didn’t know...

    Loved my GA experience!

I had a great experience in General Assembly’s Software Engineering Immersive program. The instructors are knowledgeable and incredibly supportive. The material does move fast, but that true of any bootcamp. I learned so much and am well on my way to my first role as a software engineer.

BEWARE IF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU

My experience with General Assembly has been nothing but disappointing and frustrating to say the least. I enrolled in their Data Analytics Intensive program after a lot of research on boot camps, due to their impressive job report and their "commitment" to diversity and inclusion. Everything went relatively smoothly and as expected until my first week of class.  After getting put in a cohort where I was the only female identifying classmate (in a class size of 6), which I only found out...

    Efficient and Ambitious path

I learned software engineering professionally within 4 months, and I underestimated how much I knew. After graduation, I decided to network with a state college and was surrounded by 3rd and 4th years, and I was shocked when I discovered that they were learning high school level programming content! I am proud to be a college freshmen dropout and took this untraditional pathway in order for me to pursue my career!

Once I finished this course, I felt like I was on my own, so make s...

    An unforgettable experience!

Taking a technology bootcamp course was a huge scary decision to make but  I am glad I did.  The instructional and the support staff, such as the student success and outcomes advisors, are all exceptional.  As long as you put in the effort they will go above and beyond to support you in succeeding.  The program is very challenging and demanding but if you are determined and follow their guidance you will succeed. I completed the blended course which was the best fit for me.

    Important but not the end-all

Doing the General Assembly UX/UI course will be your starting point into a tech career, but it is not going to make up for any office experience or even real-world experience. I would highly recommend going into a similar field such as marketing or social media, to understand how office jobs work. There are also MANY UX/UI bootcamp students now, so do not believe them when they say you'll be set up to find a job. While I was employed within 2 months of my bootcamp, it was in an industry ...

    It was exhilarating and intense

The Data Science Immersive boot camp was an eye opener into how Machine Learning operates. As this is a growing field, there were multiple topics covered and even more topics to be self studied.

    Safe place to learn

In my bootcamp, everyone was non-judgemental, I just had fun learning with my class. The curriculum was great in preparing me for jobs too since it was directed at web development frameworks that are in demand. It was also very useful because there's sufficient hands on experience instead of just purely theory. Overall, was brilliant!
