Introduction and Decision-Making Process
When I first started researching bootcamps, NuCamp stood out because of its affordable price and flexible schedule, combining self-paced learning with instructor support and a community for help and advice. These factors played a significant role in my decision to choose NuCamp.
Course Structure and Content
The course structure was well-designed. The bootcamp I attended was the FullStack and Mobile App Development bootcamp, which teaches JavaScript fundamentals and how to build FullStack applications with MongoDB, Express, React, and NodeJS (MERN stack). It also covered React Native for mobile app development. The subjects built on each other as the course progressed, and some topics were revisited to reinforce learning.
The bootcamp is structured with weekly assignments that include lesson overview videos, lesson videos, and exercise videos to follow along with. Sometimes there would be practice lessons where we wouldn't code using VSCode on our computers but use CodePen or similar websites that allow students to code in the browser and post links to their code. There were also discussion forums for students to post some of the assignments and discuss them with each other, similar to college discussion posts. At the end of the week, there is a quiz and a weekly feedback session where students can share what they liked or any potential issues. This approach makes you feel like NuCamp genuinely cares about student experiences.
Each section of the bootcamp allows students to work on a portfolio project, either individually or in teams, to facilitate their learning. Although I noticed that portfolio projects were mentioned less frequently during the workshops towards the end of the bootcamp, I recommend doing a portfolio project for each course in the FullStack bootcamp as they significantly enhance your learning, coding, research, and debugging skills.
NuCamp’s community is on Discord, with various servers for different courses. The servers include instructors, students, graduates, and ambassadors who can help answer questions. This is very useful and makes the community feel lively and active.
Flexibility and Part-Time Schedule
The bootcamp offered a flexible schedule, allowing me to complete lessons at my own pace throughout the week. As long as the lesson modules were completed before the weekend workshop, you’re on track.
Instruction and Mentorship
The instructors were very knowledgeable. While the quality of instruction can vary depending on the instructor, mine were responsive on Discord, typically replying within a day.
Learning Environment
The learning environment was generally good. Weekly workshops facilitated useful discussions, and many students shared common issues. The Discord community was a valuable resource for finding answers. Considering debugging and fixing issues is a big part of software development, NuCamp has a guideline called the 20-minute rule, which encourages students to research answers to any question that arises for 20 minutes before asking for help.
Skills and Knowledge Gained
I gained significant technical skills, particularly in JavaScript and FullStack MERN applications. However, I supplemented my learning with additional YouTube videos for specific topics and portfolio project needs.
Career Support and Outcomes
Completing the FullStack bootcamp gave me the skills to build FullStack applications. While it doesn't guarantee immediate job placement, it provides access to NuCamp's Job Hunting course content. Paying for the course includes instructor support.
Cost and Value
NuCamp offers an affordable price compared to other bootcamps that can cost upwards of $10K. It also provides lifetime access to course content. The part-time, self-paced format means it takes longer than some other bootcamps, which might have full-day classes, but this isn't necessarily a drawback.
Challenges and Areas for Improvement
One area for improvement is the inconsistency between videos and written lessons, particularly in the NodeJS and MongoDB sections. Video instructions sometimes used different versions than the written instructions, causing confusion and time-consuming debugging sessions. While debugging is a critical skill, the inconsistency could be frustrating.
Conclusion
Overall, I rate NuCamp highly. The FullStack bootcamp provides enough knowledge and confidence to create your own projects and continue learning independently. It also helps you identify areas where you need further learning, which is crucial for advancing in FullStack application development.

I recently completed the Software Developer boot camp and I couldn't be happier. It starts off with basics of computers and how they work. Then you get into the basics of multiple languages like Python, JavaScript, and C#. The job placement course is amazingly helpful with creating your resume and cover letters. The job placement staff are incredibly helpful with tips on applications and how to continue to improve your skills.Coderhouse

I didn't know what they meant at the time and I questioned everything. Coming from Retail Management as working background with zero experience in the Tech world the Bootcamp was quite intense as well as overwhelming for me throughout the whole 12-week course. A lot of new information was thrown at us every day, and the next day built on the previous one. Apart from the 10-6 daily schedule, I had to grind lots of extra hours of self-studying in order to keep up with the course. But at some point, everything started coming together and the puzzle started becoming more concrete. It's a GREAT program - for everyone - regardless of their background, whether they are coders or non-coders. The teachers and TA are very knowledgeable. They are extremely friendly and patient. The teachers taught me how to code but also how to be patient, be gentle with myself, and work in a team effectively. The management team is polite, friendly, and present. They're always available to help with any issues. The Career Week was very helpful and enlightening in order to help us prepare properly for the job hunt, job interviews, polish our resume and Linkedin profile. I chose Codaisseur mainly for the "No cure- no pay" model that they offer, as tuition fees can be quite stressful while trying to find a job as a junior developer. All and all, I am 100% satisfied with my choice as I found my first job as a Junior API Engineer 5-weeks after my graduation. If you're on the fence (just like me in the beginning) and wondering if you should take Codaisseur Bootcamp or not, please do yourself a favor – take a leap of faith – and GO FOR IT! I was chosen for this programI learned about Thoughtworks-Prograd train and hire programme during my final semester of college. It was something I applied for. I was chosen for this programme after six rounds of evaluation.
Initially, I assumed that this would be like traditional classroom learning, with PPTs and all, but I was wrong. We gained experience through doing. It was a two-month training session. We learned about Java and Git for the first two weeks by performing little coding assignments.
Following that, Bootcamp projects began, with a project every week in which the prograd mentors acted as real clients for us and gave us the criteria. Prograd mentors were always available to inspire us and answer our difficulties throughout the process.
In addition to this, every week there were organized tech-talks and Pecha Kucha. We trainees were given presentations on any technical topic during tech-talks. In Pecha Kucha, we discussed various societal issues that exist in India. This discourse gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to speak. They also took weekly soft skill training, which helped me enhance my communication and personality.
Based on my personal experience, I can confidently state that enrolling in this programme was the best decision I ever made, and I am grateful to Prograd for providing me with this opportunity.Cyber Patio

Their bootcamp offered an immersive hands on course experience which ensured I had the skill set needed to survive in a professional Software Developer environment.
TTT's course was not the typical class room/lecture environment. It was the kind of course which engages you to constantly learn by solving problems and creating projects (I'd like to mention that this was made perfectly clear to me before I enlisted). The hands-on course work included Object Oriented Programming (OOP), problem solving with algorithms, and creating many android applications that centered around specific functions with the addition of an Internship.
As a current Android Developer, I've worked at two companies now since my departure from TurnToTech; and I cant stress how similar the course work is to what I've faced on the job. To clarify what I mean, I'll give a quick rundown of how finding and working at a Mobile/Android developer role is like.
1) To get an interview, you need a resume depicting projects you've worked on as a Software Engineer. Thus my resume (I'll note here that I was a recent Nursing grad and the only job exp I had was at the Home Depot) compromised of small android applications which TTT's course provided to create and that I continued adding onto(polished them and added my own features), the internship project at TTT which I got to work within a dev team of fellow students under the instructor who I say acted as a product manager/lead developer, and my own small application which the instructors were more than happy to encourage/help me create.
2) To pass the interview, you'll usually need to answer various Android (or w/e you specialize in) questions as well as solve an algorithm challenge/s. Both of these topics I covered within the course. As mentioned, TTT's course includes a dive into solving algorithms and learning about multiple data structures. And besides creating multiple Android apps pertaining to all the major Android components, the course provides multiple quizzes (open ended and multiple choice) to help solidify your understanding over a specific topic. In addition, the intstructors themselves offer mock interviews that are similar to what you'll face in real life.
3) Once you get a job in any Software engineering role, you'll quickly realize how there isn't a one solution to fix all problems. You'll constantly be problem solving all day every day; and that is what I believe TTT excels at the most. TTT teaches you how to create/find the answers yourself. By being a bootcamp, which encourages students to become self-proficient, they prepare you for the everyday environment where you're expected to produce without much help.
To wrap things up, the experience I got at TTT was great. For the negative reviews regarding the nature of the course, those people missed the point of the bootcamp. This wasnt a standard college course substitute. TTT was a place that accepted me with zero software development knowledge then prepared me for a software developer job in under a year. So yes, if you attend this course and have a question about a problem you're stuck on and the instructor kindly encourages you to find the answer on StackOverflow, its because thats what you'll be doing every day within your software developer career.

This section is just so that you can gauge if what I wrote below applies to your situation. I learned programming mostly on my own and only became a Codecool student because I found I needed help in getting a job. I also followed the courses of another company (Scoala Informala de IT <- would not recommend), but this was after I had a decent understanding of the Java programming language. I started learning Java at about 32 years old, and I joined Codecool when I was 36. I finished their courses in 8 months and got hired about 2 months after I finished.
The good:
- You will be surrounded by a community of people willing to help you learn how to code. I'm not talking here about the mentors necessarily (though they will definitely help you... if you set your shame aside and ACTUALLY GO ASK THEM), but about the other students.
- The curriculum is decent and, based on what I heard, it somehow got better AND shorter.
- The job guarantee, although not a guarantee per se (more about that in the next section), is real. If your attitude is not that of a jackass, you will get hired through them. This was the main selling point for me, because even though you can indeed learn to program from Udemi, that doesn't mean anyone will actually hire you.
- You will also learn how to hold presentations for your projects, a skill that, from recent experience, seems to be just as important as writing code.
The bad:
- The curriculum is a roller coaster ride to go through for somebody with no experience in programming. As people have probably already told you if you're planning on becoming a student, the course is a full time job, and you will most likely not be able to also work for the majority of the courses duration.
- Some of the mentors attitude towards mastery based learning can degrade to "figure it out yourself" without them leading you to the right way of doing things. This statement needs more clarification, as for somebody who hasn't programmed before it probably means that the mentor should be there to help with their the majority of their problems. This is not the case though because learning how to research and troubleshoot are also things that students need to learn. I'm talking about stamping out bad solutions that would make your potential employer shake their head in disagreement if they read the code.
- The HR/marketing team will sugarcoat the contract terms heavily. Now I don't blame them, in fact I'd do the same if I were them, however I still want to point it out. If you read the contract though you will know exactly what you're getting into. The terms are not for the faint of heart. If you won't read them, you'll grieve about how horrible the service is. Either way, it's on you. For example you're not actually guaranteed a job, you're guaranteed 6 interviews, but if needed the number of interviews you're allowed to take can be increased (the way I read this paragraph from the contract is that if you're a decent human being they will help you get hired. If not, they'll provide the 6 interviews and then "bye bye". And also it helps protect against abusers who will wait for a year and not have to pay for the course. Bottom line, read the contract).Code Belgium
