Transform To The Data Science Journey

I recently graduated from BrainStation's online 12 week Data Science Bootcamp, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. Coming from a primarily accounting background with little to no prior experience in tech, I was slightly nervous about starting my tech journey. You could even say I felt a little like Nemo swimming on and trying to find his way in a new world. However, the bootcamp’s structure and hands-on approach gave excellent exposure to the tools and concepts used in industry, which naturally provided many "aah Dory! I got it!" moments and boosted my confidence about the transition into Data Science.

 

 

The curriculum was very well-organized, starting with foundational concepts in SQL and Python (Data Analytics) and gradually building toward more complex topics statistical modeling and eventually Machine Learning modelling. Toward the end of the camp, we got exposure to Big Data and Cloud Computing services like Amazon Web Services (AWS). The camp also starts you on a capstone project that culminates at the end of the camp where you present to your peers, educators, and other industry professionals. I was really pleased to have the challenge of creating a capstone project with using a lot of the concepts/skills that you learn along the way. I now have the project on my GitHub, which BrainStation walks you through setting up (not as easy as it seems) and I'm looking to develop the project further in addition to adding many more to my first ever GitHub account! The camp is truly awesome at allowing you many opportunities to apply the new skills you learn to real-world scenarios, that includes my capstone project on surge pricing for rideshare drivers, which I’m particularly proud of : ).

 

 

The educators, Laura Cornejo Paulino, Borna Ghotbi, and Stephen Savchik along with the career services team Nikki Daye, Vasti Marcelo, and Annette Sayre are all top tier rockstar people, super knowledgeable, responsive, and they enhanced the entire experience for me and our cohort from week 1 to 12. The career preparation support is also amazing and I've been really grateful for all the best practice advice and teachings from the team, from mock interviews, LinkedIn polishing, GitHub polishing, to resume reviews, which helped me feel more ready to enter the job market. The program is definitely intense! ..., but the sense of accomplishment I feel made it worthwhile. For anyone considering a career pivot into data science, I highly recommend BrainStation's bootcamp—are you up for the challenge???

I've taken the advanced DevOps course at Pragra, learned an awful lot about the CI/CD tools, and had extensive hands-on. I recommend it. 

Product school was a great resource in helping me with my industry transfer into product management. My instructor, Toby Martin Hughes, was very informative and is definitely a very talented product management instructor. I am pleased to have attended this class, and look forward towards my career as a PM.

16 weeks may seem like a daunting time commitment, but the course is so worth it! The way the Data Science Dojo crew runs their bootcamp program is very thorough. The lessons and homework flow very intuitively. The modules covered build on concepts in a way that really helps with understanding. The instructors really promote class interaction which is good for tackling these topics in such a short time, getting our engagement rather than simply lecturing at us. They also encourage participation in a class Kaggle competition, which helps with additional free-form practical application of the concepts covered in class (plus some friendly competition for motivation). Most importantly, the instructors are very interactive, hands on, and passionate. They want to see every cohort succeed in their learning and you can see the labor of love that goes into teaching us, providing quality content both in the sessions and via the course site. This really sets them apart from other bootcamps, especially those provided online.

The course covers all the hot topics in the Data Science field, grounding in the perspective that the bootcamp is looking to prepare students with a broad range of experiences. I appreciate the context they provide and the thought that went into exposing us to a little bit of everything and the skills to jump in.

First I just hear my friends just turn his career path to IT industry and I start to find some information about Tecky. After visited them and I decided to apply their course. It's really hard and I can say pain as I have no experience in IT but after I have done what I want to create the project it's hard to just use word to describe how excited. I find a job with not bad salary easily after graduation so I am thankful to have such chance.
