I was fortunate enough to be part of Wyncode’s first cohort, from May to July 2014.

I had virtually zero experience coding before I joined (I had just a base knowledge of HTML and CSS) but I knew that rather than spending 6 months struggling to learn by myself, I’d advance much faster learning from experts. 

Wyncode’s program is absolutely authentic in the value it delivers to its students, and I personally attribute this to its team. Head instructor Ed Toro is extremely knowledgeable with years of experience in the tech field. But more importantly, he’s able to relay complex information patiently and logically to students. In my opinion, his teaching style was essential to this program. Learning from an expert that enjoys the teaching process is a completely different experience than reading from a textbook or taking an online course. The access to that level of expertise is what I was looking for coming into Wyncode, and Mr. Toro definitely delivered.

The supporting staff is made up of Teaching Assistants that specialize in different areas – front end development, supporting languages (JavaScript, JQuery), etc. Their contribution is just as essential, because although Ed Toro is giving the lessons each day, your learning truly happens after the lesson, when you're working on assignments and thinking through problems.

This part of the program might be very frustrating to some students if they were to work on their own – but the Teaching Assistant staff was there every night to support and offer guidance. This level of commitment to your learning is unseen in any other environment – even at the university level, it's hard to have a full day devoted to you the way Wyncode has organized it. 

The final piece that really differentiates Wyncode from anything else are the founders Johanna and Juha. They bring an energy and passion to their program that sets the tone for the rest of the organization, including the students. Their vision of the program isn't just to create a coding school – it's to build well-rounded tech professionals. In my opinion, they are succeeding at this better than most universities.

The reason why I think this is because they offer something that often gets lost in a large university environment. They offer a personalized experience. Johanna and Juha are there every day, receiving feedback from both students and teaching staff. They are constantly gauging everyone's progress to make sure no one falls behind on the course content. But more importantly, they offer mentorship where most tech professionals need it the most – in social settings like interviews with employers. Johanna and Juha have years of experience in all types of professional situations, and they freely share that knowledge with their students. 

I was personally involved in several interviews with employers during the cohort, and for each meeting I prepped with Johanna and Juha. They offered guidance on how to build the employer-applicant relationship, what strengths I should promote, what weaknesses I could improve on. They networked alongside us, attending events where they could introduce us to tech professionals. I met my current employer at an event that Johanna and Juha found and attended with me.

The overall theme to Wyncode is a dynamic, well-rounded team offering you a personalized experience from start to finish. For me, that finish was landing full-time employment as a Rails developer. Wyncode's team guided me from learning the material, using it to build apps, showcasing those apps in my portfolio, and using that portfolio as an asset during networking events with employers. As straightforward as it sounds, that path takes a lot of work, and that's where the tone, energy, and motivation of the team is crucial.

Two weeks after my cohort ended, I was extended an offer letter from my employer. I'm now a Junior Rails Developer at MDLIVE. Its still mind-boggling to me that this all happened in about 10 weeks.

My experience at Wyncode was so rich and profound that I find it impossible to capture it in just a few paragraphs. I freely state that Wyncode changed the course of my career and it's easily one of the most impacting decisions of my life.

Quiting my job and joining Wyncode is the best career decision I have made. Everyone thought I was crazy because I had a stable job in a not-so-stable economy, but it is because of Wyncode that I found a better job and a career path I am satisfied with. 

Learning to code is not an easy task, and it is not for everyone, but Wyncode's teaching staff were a fantastic resource and were available at all hours during the program. They bring a ton of knowledge and experience and are by your side willing to put in the time with you.

They also provide access to the tech community in South Florida, and put you in front of hiring partners who you wouldn't otherwise have access to. There are always events and networking opportunities available, and they push you to get out there and participate.

Now that I am working as a developer I realize there is still a lot to learn after Wyncode, but they gave me the foundation to move forward learning on my own and enough knowledge to go through an interview and start a career as a junior developer.

For anyone considering Wyncode, you should ask yourself:

1. "Am I willing to work harder than I ever have?"

2. "Am I motivated to learn in class AND on my own time?"

3. "Do I enjoy problem solving?"

If you answered yes to all of these then you should definitely join Wyncode!

I just finished Wyncode’s second cohort, and I am happy to say that the quality of my instructors and the curriculum exceeded my expectations! Ed Toro, the lead instructor, is one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. I am thankful to have been supported by such a knowledgeable and helpful group of Teaching Assistants, especially Frank.  I graduated with a business degree from Florida International University with no coding experience.  I recognized the need, however, for the skills taught by Wyncode in the Miami market and took the leap of faith with an open mind.  I spent countless hours of hard work in the LAB, and the Wyncode staff was with me every step of the way. Miami tech is for real.  Start-ups and established companies have an appetite for new developers in South Florida and Wyncode is the best way to get involved.

I am a member of Wyncode's inaugural cohort and the value of my experience has continued to grow beyond the course content.

Here are the ways in which Wyncode has enriched my life and why Wyncode is the best place for anyone with the ambition and ability to achieve greatness:

(1) technical foundation // Wyncode provides a foundation in technical skills for web development.  Course content is comprehensive for what is necessary to start a career as a developer.  The instructors are proven professionals in their fields and are devoted to providing the necessary attention to each student.

(2) business fundamentals and product development // Writing code is powerful, but is only one aspect of what makes a business prosper.  Wyncode supplements their technical instruction with teaching business fundamentals, particularly in the scope of rapid product cycles that are relevent in fast-growing companies.  "Lean startup" and "agile product management" are given just attention to ensure that Wyncode graduates can relate their work in the context of a business strategy.  These elements are important to understand as a job candidate and offer a way to gain an edge when entering the tech work force.

(3) relationships in the tech community // Wyncode has a powerful network of technology professionals who are influential, inspirational, and impactful.  Students have privileged access to members of that network, which is a meaningful feature of the experience that is beyond the scope of a curriculum and cannot be replicated by an online course.

(4) post-graduate coaching and support // Experience and benefits provided by Wyncode does not end after the course is complete.  Wyncode's leadership team, instructors, and alumni collectively ensure that all of its members get the coaching and support they need to fluorish.

I initially joined expecting a fast-paced course to sharpen my skills in user experience design, but it turned out to be so much more than that.




Over the three-month period, I significantly improved my design abilities, deepened my understanding of accessibility, and developed a sharper eye for detail. I also enhanced my communication skills, especially when presenting and explaining ideas, and gained more confidence in public speaking. Most importantly, I became part of a vibrant community of innovators, explorers, and out-of-the-box thinkers.




The instructors were fantastic—engaged, attentive, and genuinely invested in our success. They created a safe and supportive learning environment, always encouraging us while maintaining high standards. The course structure was dynamic, with a great mix of lectures, group projects, hands-on assignments, and presentations. They were quick to sense when someone was having a tough day and responded with empathy and support.




The careers team was equally impressive. From the early stages of the programme, they offered valuable guidance on job applications, interview preparation, and networking. A standout moment for me was the industry project, which brought everything together and gave us the opportunity to work with established industry partners—it truly felt like a celebration of everything we’d learned.




The campus team also deserves a mention. They were always welcoming and supportive—happy to be testers for homework projects or simply offering a warm “hello” in the morning.




I’ve grown not only as a professional but also as a person. This experience has been truly transformative.

Completing the software engineering bootcamp was one of the most intense and rewarding experiences of my life. The program was fast-paced and challenging, but it pushed me to grow quickly both technically and professionally. I came in with minimal coding experience and left feeling confident in full-stack development. The instructors were knowledgeable and supportive, and the peer collaboration mimicked real-world team dynamics. It wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it — I landed my first developer job within a few months of graduating. The BrainStation Product Management course gave me a complete toolkit for approaching product development with confidence. The content was well-structured and covered everything from defining a problem statement to creating an MVP and preparing a go-to-market strategy. What made the course stand out, though, was the incredible teaching team. Scott and Ivan went above and beyond to ensure we truly understood each concept. Their feedback on our projects was thorough and actionable, and they brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to each session.
What I particularly liked about the course was the focus on practical application. We didn’t just learn theories; we applied them immediately through hands-on projects.  I had a great experience at the BrainStation Data Science Bootcamp. The courses were detailed, relevant, and highly hands-on. We were taught industry-level skills that are applicable to the real-world job market, unlike some outdated material still taught at certain universities. The educators, TAs, and career success team were knowledgeable and supportive, ensuring that everyone received the help they needed both during and after the bootcamp. I recently completed a boot camp that turned out to be a fantastic educational journey. The instructors were top-notch, bringing both deep knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom. Their passion and expertise made the learning process both enjoyable and highly effective. The course materials were well-prepared and insightful, enriching my understanding and skills significantly.



However, I do wish the program had been longer, as the time flew by and left me eager to learn even more. On a constructive note, there could be improvements in fostering cross-collaboration between different disciplines. This interaction would enhance the learning experience by providing broader perspectives and more comprehensive insights into how different skills interconnect in a real-world environment.



Overall, this boot camp is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to deepen their expertise. The few areas for improvement are far outweighed by the valuable knowledge and skills I gained. Highly recommended for those ready to elevate their capabilities! Thank you! Read less

Great boot camp, you learn a lot for the short time it lasts. Instructors are very cool, always interacting with students and helping out with their projects. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to up their skills in coding and web dev but notices that is also a very challenging BootCamp and requires some time aside to learn and develop these skills. My experience at BrainStation Miami’s Digital Marketing course was exceptional. The curriculum was incredibly comprehensive, covering a wide range of topics from SEO and PPC to social media and email marketing. While the sheer amount of information was at times overwhelming, the instructors were industry experts who wove their own experiences into the lessons, making the course manageable and engaging.

The hands-on projects provided valuable real-world experience, allowing me to apply what I learned in a practical setting. The collaborative learning environment and networking opportunities were also invaluable. I'm excited to apply the skills I've gained to my communications career and am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such talented instructors and connect with like-minded professionals.
