I recently graduated from dCCs Full Stack Flex program. It was a time in my life that coincided with a great deal of change and struggle, which equated well to the challenge of swapping careers from music and audio to development. Truth be told, I almost did not finish on two specific occasions due to what was going on and the struggle to understand the material because of my own limitations. Thankfully, the instructors are very good about checking in and supporting the students. There were many adjustments to the resources and my main one on one instructor was particularly good about helping in our sessions find the best ways for me to catch up and understand what I needed to do. Likewise as the projects became more complex, the rest of the instructors offered a great deal of help "filling in the blanks" so I could finish and succeed in the camp. I was thankful for the empathy and effort put forth, and it led to a great deal of enjoyment with this new field. I am hopeful looking ahead to a job in this industry because of my experience at dCC. Definitely weigh if coding and coding bootcamps are the right leap for you to take, but if you choose to take it, dCC is the place to be.

The curriculum was comprehensive and hands-on, giving me the opportunity to learn by doing, and the projects I worked on were challenging and rewarding.
One of the things I appreciated the most was the emphasis on real-world skills and problem-solving, which I found incredibly valuable in preparing me for the workforce. I also appreciated the flexibility of the program, which allowed me to work at my own pace and balance my studies with my other responsibilities.
Overall, I highly recommend devCodeCamp to anyone looking to gain practical skills in software development. I feel confident and well-prepared to tackle the challenges of the tech industry, and I am excited to see where this new career path takes me. Thank you, devCodeCamp!

I chose devCodeCamp because they were one of the few bootcamps that I could fit into my work schedule as a piano teacher, and the staff immediately made a great impression. The curriculum is set up well, but I think it might be a little lacking compared to other software development bootcamps, because we only focused on one specific tech stack. That being said, after being walked through the process of building and deploying a full stack application, I feel comfortable trying to build with other tech stacks on my own. I don't think this boot camp makes you job ready, but it puts you on track to keep learning independently until you are ready. I would recommend devCodeCamp if you need to fit learning into your work schedule, but also want to have a personal relationship with instructors and classmates.

Before coming to devCodeCamp, I had 8 years of varied experience in the IT sector, with small dabblings in C, C++, and a variety of topics before I found that self-teaching without any prior basis in the topic was an intense struggle for me. So, I began weighing my options for educational assistance.
I found that a bootcamp course would probably be my best option. I pursued a number of different bootcamp courses, some were okay, some were very bad, but devCodeCamp seemed on the level.
And, initially, it went great. Their introduction, featuring python, was wonderful and I took to it like a fish to water. Concepts like Object Oriented Programming and Algorithms were taught, live, with an instructor and it was exactly what I expected. It went absolutely great, and the instructor was very helpful. Inheritance, SQL, database concepts, ORM querying, and many projects went swimmingly. 5 stars.
And then, in the 4th week, on day 17, there was a sudden and drastic shift. It started with the Django REST framework: suddenly, the instructor live sessions ceased and we were left watching tutorial videos in order to teach us the concepts. Now, while these videos could be argued to be far more on topic with the task on hand, I did not plan on paying thousands of dollars for content I could find on youtube. This kind of self-taught approach is good for those already out in the field, but I strongly felt that I was not ready for this, and it was not what I was looking for in a structured learning environment. This, I feel, was much better suited for a more self-paced learning environment.
And my grades reflected this. While not terrible, it was clear I was struggling with this particular method. It wasn't a show stopper, I muscled through it, and, for a while, things went back to the way they were. We picked up JavaScript, HTML, and CSS utilizing the old method, and I hoped that was just a bump.
It wasn't.
React.js was introduced with another slew of tutorial videos, and it was absolute hell. And whenever I inevitably ran into issues, I heard the same litany of "it's in the help center" as if I had even the vaguest idea of what I was looking for and "you should know this" when my grades showed that, clearly, I did not.
And then the capstone came around, and guess what? It involved react.js, which at this point I was already quite vehement towards. I will admit! I gave it my best shot, but my user stories didn't match up and I failed by a few points. In the follow up weeks, I fought and fought and fought with react.js while my instructors became steadily less and less helpful until finally? I noted very keenly how the user stories did not specify using react.js.
So I didn't. I disabled it all and wrote the entire frontend in JavaScript with some help from some coder friends.
My instructors didn't notice until after they had passed me with flying colors. Despite mentioning it my EOD reports. And my GitHub updates.
However, the trouble didn't end there. I found Career Services to be distinctly lacking. On the onset, I found them difficult to contact and difficult to get instruction from. Then, after some help with my resume, I was sent to watch, guess what, more tutorial videos, mixed in with the occasional PDF, which they apparently expect us to just memorize and utilize. What little face-time I received with these instructors was usually spent trying to force me out of my comfort zone, into doing things that were self-depreciating, and then expecting me to be a natural at it. I began reaching out to my fellow students, one who had passed on the initial try, to see if this was the case with them as well. I quickly found out that they, too, were quite underwhelmed by it all. It felt like they were inattentive at times, or missing crucial details. I had to be asked, twice, if I was a veteran, and shortly there after? My resume was sent off to an unknown without any of my prior console or consent.
And there was a bit of a bump, as much as I hate to bring up anything that may involve someone's personal drama, but: one of the two career counseling folk promptly resigned from the company, and twas evident by their LinkedIn post that they had not yet lined anything else up yet. And, mind you: this was shortly before the holidays with all its juicy bonuses. I cannot even begin to claim to know half the details of what went on here, but.. with what little I was presented, it seemed evident something was amiss.
The issues were an ongoing thing, one after another. The new instructor kept harping about GitHub updates, which would be fine and well, if they could get the number correct. My reports said I was due 5 updates each week, where as their number kept jumping around, despite me repeatedly informing them of this. And then the other instructor wants to start to seeing "research on the company" and "who you reached out to highlight yourself", two things I have not been doing because I have no idea how I should. I started to dig into that pile of tutorial videos and PDFs, and, along with noticing how they were fraught with typos and errors, I did indeed find the section where they covered this. It really felt like something that should have been focused on in the first week.
This is the point where I started calling the loan company to talk about refunding, because, devCodeCamp was clearly not worth it. You might as well just watch youtube videos, because, half the time? You'll be doing that anyway. Unfortunately, it looked like I was stuck paying for a weak, watered down product.

It was mid October when I started the devCodeCamp Full Stack Development bootcamp. My experience before starting the program was very little. I took a few computer science courses at the University of Houston, but no other experience besides that. Starting the program it was instilled in the minds of all my classmates and I that the program would be no easy task. We were told early on that the course was going to be one of the hardest things that we've ever had to learn. Little did I know the course would turn out to be smooth sailing from beginning to finish.
The time spent at devCodeCamp was filled with an amazing support system and strong team dynamic. There are multiple instructors for technical help and a strong backbone for any non-technical questions. From the gecko I was able to learn concepts and ideas easy. The instructors are well-prepared and continue make sure each and every student is on the track to success. Each section of the program is given adequate time for students to ask all the questions they have and complete the project. Additionally, each section had challenging bonus questions for those who could finish up early. There was always something to do and never time to be wasted. For those who are considering this program, trust that you feel rewarded as you go through the program and will continue to always be supported.
The final project was a beast of its own. You are given a sufficient amount of time for completing the last project spent at devCodeCamp. The instructors will help guide, build, and mold your skills in the last stretch of the program. I was able to learn the most I've ever had in just 10 days. When it comes final presentation time you will come in passionate about your application and excited for what the future has to offer.
By the end if you followed all the steps, worked hard, and instilled all the lessons of the course, you will be a well oiled Software Developing machine.
Afterwards, career services will provide in-depth tutorials on how to be successful in the workforce. The extraordinary team helps you through every step of the way from resumes to applying.

In late 2022, I began the devCodeCamp (hereafter, "dCC") Computer Science Engineer bootcamp with prior experience testing websites and a little exposure to the frontend markup languages, HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA, and JavaScript. Through 20 weeks of rigorous, rapid-paced instruction and practice, I gained a confident handle on the technologies that I learned, including Python, Django REST Frameworks, Postman API, Java, Cypress, SQL, MySQL, CSS Flexbox, JavaScript, and React.js. I went from knowing usability and markup to practicing full stack development. There were several important professional development concepts integrated into the structure of the program. For example, we were practiced Agile principles, gave "standups" to report our progress on a project, and were paired for certain projects. Some of the questions for which we were required to give written answers helped us practice our communication skills. The course went beyond just programming to give us a taste of the real-world environment for which we were preparing.
I have taken a lot of online trainings before dCC, and this was the best value for the cost of training that I paid for. The lessons were well-coordinated as each teacher conveyed the same information about the lesson. The live lectures and demos were supported by corresponding videos and slide shows to give us multiple ways to engage and review the course content. The teachers were responsive to visit us in breakout rooms for extra support as needed.
Anyone with no prior programming experience (as I was) should expect to spend a lot of time after class to reviewing the lessons and practicing the basics. Be encouraged to ask a lot of questions to clarify terms and concepts that are unfamiliar. The pace is fast, and you must be diligent to reach out to the instructors about any difficulties you face so that they may help you reach your goals.
I ask a lot of questions in class. Each teacher handled my questions, no matter how difficult, with patience and grace. Their confidence gave me the confidence that instructors were not only competent but experts in the field. This increased the value of what they were teaching me.
Five months ago, I knew none of this. I give dCC the highest recommendation for equipping me with a variety of tools and projects to approach the software development industry with the foundation to understand and contribute as I continue my growth as a developer.
Adding icing to the cake is that dCC also provides career support from the first month of the course. That support, an introductory online seminar with a Career Services employee, set the tone and foundation for the end goal of our training to enter the workforce!
As a graduate, the plan to help us find employment was clear, consistent, and definitive. dCC stands out to me as top-notch in support from Admissions to Career Services, comparable to the services of a traditional college. From start to finish, thank you, dCC!

The instructors were always willing to help and did not change our ideas but just built on them and made us grow them into better ones. I would have liked to do more group programming to get used to the style I will be doing the most.

I never looked at code in my life before this. I was a welder for crying aloud… The first week was confusing and fast, but I feel like, after I let the fear of not knowing what I was doing go, I really started to understand what I had thought was so impossible. The instructor was more than helpful, and it really was like being in a classroom where I could just raise my hand and questions could be answered as I had them. They really designed their curriculum very well and made it easy to navigate through to find past content and subjects to refer to as I needed.
One project after another confirmed that I was understanding how to do what was asked. I really had issues around week 6 when my grandmother passed away, but the instructors and classmates were incredibly supportive and really helped me stay on course. We were just starting React too!
React was the real test that made me realize I can do this! After understanding React and finishing a few more projects, we had our capstone due! I really relied on my notes and earlier projects to complete my capstone project, but in the end, it turned out pretty darn good.
I know I owe my instructors and my partners a ton of credit to get me through this crazy yet rewarding ride. Looking back and reflecting, I was worried that 14 weeks wouldn’t be enough time to learn something as intricate as software engineering, but dCC made it possible. Not only is it possible, but 14 weeks is plenty of time to learn Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React.js, Django, Django REST Framework, Java, and Spring. You will also become familiar with MySQL, Web Services & REST API, JSON, Git & GitHub, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio Community, Postman, IntelliJ IDEA Community.

devCodeCamp is a great option if you are thinking about a career transition or wanting to learn some of the languages and technologies they teach. I took the full-time full stack engineer course (online) and devCodeCamp was a great experience for myself. I was able to learn at a fast pace with plenty of resources available to me to reference, while also having access to an instructor when needed. The simulated class environment was very welcoming and easy to work within. My instructor was very willing to help, but also made sure I was self sufficient in finding solutions to what I needed and did not hand feed me answers. The learning curve does start out moderate but does increase the further along you go as you should be getting more comfortable with the material and concepts. The class time allotted for each day is more than enough to finish assignments and projects, but if you are determined and interested in what you are doing I recommend spending a little extra time so that you can cement the concepts into your knowledge.
I will add that before beginning my bootcamp with decCodeCamp, I self taught and familiarized myself with Python, HTML, and CSS, which extensively helped me digest the concepts in which we learned throughout the bootcamp. Coming in with some sort of prior knowledge or slight understanding will be a great help and lighten the load of concepts that you will need to understand to be successful within the bootcamp.
Overall I enjoyed my experience at devCodeCamp, I feel as through I have learned an immense amount of knowledge in such a short period of time, and that I am fully capable of building a full stack application front to back. The Instructors are very friendly and insightful and will always help you find a solution as long as you are willing to put in the work to understand or get to one as well. I'd recommend this bootcamp to anyone SERIOUS about learning how to code!

Totally worth it!
When I was making a decision to change my career to software development I was very critical about all boot camps in general because I, like many other people, was thinking that it is impossible to be a valuable employee in just 14 weeks of education, but I had no choice. When I was making a decision to change my career to software development I was very critical about all boot camps in general because I, like many other people, was thinking that it is impossible to be a valuable employee in just 14 weeks of education, but I had no choice. I couldn't effort any other type of education and I decided to take a shot. Since my first class day, my heart was telling me that I'm on the right path and I loved that educational process more and more every day. I was getting all the support from the devCodeCamp staff at any time I needed it, and I was getting all the answers even if they were not clear enough, but that was done on purpose so I could find a solution by myself and remember it forever. At the end of the course, I was able to create my own application from scratch when I had zero experience in coding before I landed myself at the devCodeCamp. If you are reading this message and still don't believe that devCodeCamp will get you to succeed - you probably don't believe in yourself. Since you believe in yourself - they will do everything for you to become a software developer! I am a former truck driver telling you this. After graduation, I got all the support from career services to be able to find my first job. They will help you to get prepared for future interviews. The only thing you have to understand is that they won't pass any interview for you. You have to believe in yourself and do everything you can to have those potential employers stop their eyes at your profile and be willing to have a conversation with you. I'm thankful for the devCodeCamp that I have a job that I was always dreaming about. If I was able to become a software developer - anyone is able too, you just need to believe in yourself, get motivated, chase your goal, and go with the devCodeCamp!
