Digital Career Institute (DCI) is a 12-month long coding bootcamp based in Germany with campuses in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Leipzig. The courses are fully immersive and cover entry-level basics in stack HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. DCI also specialize in technologies like Angular, Node.js, and Databases. DCI was launched as an initiative to integrate refugees into the growing IT industry. Today it is committed to training anyone who wants to pursue a tech career. In addition to coding languages, students will master best practices on platforms like GitHub. They will learn agile project management and development methodologies like SCRUM.
DCI is intended to help untrained individuals attain digital jobs, and so the application process assumes that candidates have no prior coding experience. The DCI application process begins by filling out an online form. Candidates will then be contacted by education consultants from DCI to discuss further details.
Job placement training is woven into DCI’s program. Career workshops help students prepare an industry-specific resume, create an online presence, and learn techniques that will make them more attractive to potential employers. DCI also sets each graduate up with a 2-month internship in the tech field.
The 12-month course focuses on self-paced learning, project work, and teacher lead discussions and lessons. In addition to standard courses, however, students will also attend specialized sessions led by DCI alumni and top professionals who offer tips to advancing in the field. Students will also partner with a buddy who they’ll meet with at least once a week. Aligned with Digital Career Institute's core belief in helping improve opportunities for refugees, they also provide German and English language courses lead by expert instructors.

They give you fake promises about job opportunities and support. Never before have I encountered such a toxic positivity environment. Only one programming teacher was capable of teaching effectively, while others struggled with basic coding problems. It was horrific to listen to some of the teachers who barely had English skills. After making some complaints, they would tell you that everything is fine and that you shouldn't be worried.I am writing this opinion to prevent peop...They give you fake promises about job opportunities and support. It was horrific to listen to some of the teachers who barely had English skills. After making some complaints, they would tell you that everything is fine and that you shouldn't be worried.I am writing this opinion to prevent people from making a wrong decision. Without my determination, I wouldn't be able to code now. All my peers, including myself, bought additional Udemy courses to follow best practices and acquire the knowledge that was supposed to be provided by DCI. If you want to study programming, choose a rare programming language and the best programming school.

Very bad. Stay away.
Please trust the bad reviews. After the 12-month Web Dev course, this is my opinion:
- teachers with no ability to teach.
- confusing lessons, given by someone who knew nothing about what they were teaching.
- the curriculum isn't bad and could work if there was the slightest organization, preparation of materials and lessons.
- lack of support from class support (your complaints will either be ignored or answered too late).
- too many hours wasted on job coaches and...Please trust the bad reviews. After the 12-month Web Dev course, this is my opinion:

- too many hours wasted on job coaches and soft skills classes that don't help at all, with their typical quotes of toxic positivity. Just wait until you get to the wonderful job search support program...
- my class went through moments of despair (we all had to buy extra online courses because otherwise we wouldn't learn anything), until we literally had to shout in meetings in order to be heard and change something (which did change, but it was too late after 9 months of complaining).
- After that, some teachers were good at teaching and were good people, nice and understanding and I'm really sorry they had to go through this mess of a school, but unfortunately even they can't make me give them more than one star. Worst experience ever, time and money waist
I want to give an honest and straightforward review of this course to help other people who are putting all their effort into a career change and trying to make the best decision about where to allocate the resources they have. DCI has been a terrible experience. After 8 months of classes with 2 teachers who arrived every day without having a lesson or material prepared, they tried to explain concepts that were very confusing because of their lack of preparation. Not to mention that when...I want to give an honest and straightforward review of this course to help other people who are putting all their effort into a career change and trying to make the best decision about where to allocate the resources they have. DCI has been a terrible experience. After 8 months of classes with 2 teachers who arrived every day without having a lesson or material prepared, they tried to explain concepts that were very confusing because of their lack of preparation. Not to mention that when they tried to do live coding, and as they were unprepared, the code never worked out (never!), they deleted it and did it again several times; it was impossible to follow them. In 8 months, nobody learned anything. Most of my classmates came from the IT industry, and even they were complaining. DCI threatened to expel the students from the course if they continued complaining about the bad teachers' quality. Most of us had to buy Udemy courses to get the knowledge, and it was a real solution. I could mention many other things, such as the disastrous 3 weeks of substitute teachers in the backend, each day a different one not knowing what he should teach because DCI contacted him that morning. This post would be very long if it went into all the details.
The icing on the cake was when I received a formal written reprimand by email from the class manager in a highly aggressive manner, formally accusing me of "allegedly" falsifying sick leave certificates, which I, not knowing that DCI would reject, obtained through telemedicine from the health service provider DrAnsay. I submitted to DCI all the documentation provided by Dr. Ansay about the legal validity of their certificates and showed that they were issued after telemedicine payment. The point is that the DCI team had 1 year after the first certificate to warn me that they didn't recognize this provider's certificate of illness so that I could go to another doctor in the future. However, they did not acknowledge their mistake and lack of professionalism in notifying their rejection promptly, and they arbitrarily decided to record those absences as unjustified. The ridiculous thing is that the sickness certificates were 2 days of flu (certificate 1), which turned into 15 days of COVID certificate (the flu became that after 5 days) in 2023, and again 1 COVID certificate in January 2024. Something totally within normal disease parameters for 18 months in human life!
In summary, teachers who are not certified or prepared to teach, the mistreatment of students, and constant threats that they will report to the Agentur für Arbeit/Job Center are worse than the worst school. To top it all off, wait to learn about coding. If I could go back in time, I would have given this opportunity to a serious and committed education provider who treats students as people, not as immigrants living from the German government. Best decision
For a long time I was really unhappy with the retail job I had. So I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and do something completely new, learn how to code. Great community
I came to DCI having no clue about coding but was eager to learn and take on new challenges on my career path. I felt really lucky at the time because I finally found a WebDev program in English and fully funded by the German Employment Agency. DCI staff and especially teachers did work really hard to provide us not only an up-to-date and intensive curriculum but also a community of people who are willing to learn and to help each other. Exceeded my expectations
Losing my previous job, I was done with the industry and really frustrated. Once I started my course at DCI, everything changed for the positive for me. I got really enthusiastic because of the support and because I could see from the beginning the value of their course. Their curriculum is extremely well put together, especially the Organic Social Media Marketing and Paid Social Media Marketing is very helpful for my current job. Ich habe sogar angerufen, um das zu klären. Jedoch haben die Mitarbeiter immer nur alles gut geredet und am Ende nichts machen können. Extrem lächerlich und unseriös. Ich habe gegen Ende 7 E-Mails bekommen und alle Aufträge für die Abholung waren unkorrekt. Der Kurs selber ist auch so unstrukturiert aufgebaut, dass ja jeder Lehrer den Kurs selbst durchführt. Der Mentor im Kurs hat nicht einmal bemerkt, wer sich schämt, was zu sagen, und wer wirklich alles verstanden hat. Oftmals wollte man keine zweite Erklärung, da sonst wieder Kommentare folgten. Statt Hilfe bekam man nur ungefragtes Feedback. Motivation war fehl am Platz. Zumindest direkt gerichtete. Pädagogische Schulung haben diese Personen selbstverständlich nicht erhalten. Oder Sie haben diese ignoriert. Im Großen und Ganzen wird hier nur Geld verdient mit Leuten wie mir, die am Ende dann trotzdem keinen neuen Job haben. Ich bin einfach enttäuscht.

Nice and valuable experience in Salesforce
At the beginning, it was difficult and like a bumpy ride. However, the teacher as well as the class manager were very helpful. They take my issues seriously and provided swift solutions to have the best possible educational experience. They were very supportive all the way till I got my certificates and found a job. Worst school ever.
Bad teachers, the classes aren't well prepare by them. Some of my colleagues were trying to have a career change, they ended up depressed, desperate, demotivaded.

It is bad, really bad!
This review is about the 12 month Web Developer course. It was an awful and exhausting experience. The teachers could not teach. It's as simple as that. I believe they had their knowledge but they couldn't pass it to us because they knew nothing about how to be a teacher. We complained for many months about this and the school couldn't care less. We wasted months of our lifes with a teacher that was not able in any sense to teach us something. Bad communication, lack of preparation, not even thinking of preparing a lesson before starting it. The curriculum seemed ok and interesting, but it was impossible to do something with it.
Most of my class ended up buying extra courses online or paying tutors so we could at least learn something for real.
Then, after a long battle, we arrive at the job search moment and the job coaches and managers don't help with anything. It's been disappointment after disappointment with this school.
Everything in this school feels like a cash grab and they found a gold mine in state support.
Stay away. Look for another school. And trust the bad reviews, more than anything, trust the bad reviews, please. I was a fool not to do it in the first place, because I read a few but at the same time thought "it could't be that bad, right? And there is some positive reviews too, right?". Stay away. My expectations have been exceeded
I worked in a hotel for some years and then started a family. Since it was difficult to reconcile both, I decided against my career. After a few months of unemployment, I decided to make a further education into the digital sector. Hallo, ich war im Orientierungskurs Webdevelopment und Marketing und dieser Kurs war echt herausragend und spitze. Respektvoller und freundlicher Umgang, die Lehrer/in freundlich, hilfsbereit und sehr sehr wissend im Thema.

Den DCI ist anders, als die meisten mir bekannten Träger und Maßnahmen in Berlin, und die ich auch in den letzten 10 Jahren in Berlin selbst erlebt und absolviert habe als Träger und Maßnahmen.
Die meisten anderen Träger in Berlin sind nicht respektvoll, nicht freundlich, meist unfähig oder unwissend oder machen unterirdische und schlechte Beschäftigungsmaßnahmen ohne ein je in einen Job zu vermitteln. Leben aber gut von Steuergeldern, und die Bundesregierung in Berlin macht das mit, und unterstützt schlechte Träger auch noch.
Nicht so bei DCI, das ist der erste Träger und Weiterbildungsanbieter, der echt respektvoll und freundlich ist sei es von den Schüler/in oder Lehrer/in und wo auch die Lehrer/in umfängliches, echtes Wissen aus der Wirtschaft und Informatik haben.
Ich habe das erstemal seit langem eine reale Aussicht auf ein Job und selbstbestimmtes Leben nach Menschenrechten die oft von Seiten der Leistungsabteilungen in Jobcenter in ganz Deutschland ohne Grund einem verwehrt werden.
Diese Weiterbildungskurse können unter anderem auch für Arbeitssuchende mit einem Bildungsgutschein vom Jobcenter finanziert werden.
Meist oder oft versuchen sich Jobcenter in ganz Deutschland darum zu drücken, und euch eine Weiterbildung zu verweigern, dann solltet ihr Klagen gegen das Jobcenter vor Gericht, kostenlos. Ihr gewinnt zu 99,9%, denn Weiterbildung ist ein Recht.
Dann muss man mit einem 10 Euro Schein zum nächsten Amtsgericht der Stadt und kriegt dort ein Justizbeihilfe Schein für den besten Clananwalt der Stadt, und nach spätestens 3 Tagen ist man in jeder Weiterbildung eingeklagt.
Gilt für jedes Problem mit den Jobcentern. Geht halt manchmal nicht anders.
Auf jeden Fall kriegt ihr bei DCI eine sachlich fundierte Ausbildung in Informatik und Wirtschaft und es wird euch bei der Jobsuche und Eingliederung sehr gut geholfen von DCI.
So könnt ihr mit einer sehr fundierten Ausbildung innerhalb Deutschlands oder außerhalb in den Ländern der EU oder Amerika oder Australien oder Asien sicher einen guten Job und gutes Leben finden.
In Deutschland sind 80 Mio Einwohner, davon arbeiten noch 15 Mio legal und sozialversicherungspflichtig, 65 Mio Leute arbeiten ohne sozialversichert zu sein in prekären Lowlevel Jobs, sind in Rente oder arbeiten erst gar nicht aus welchen unterschiedlichen Gründen auch immer. Also echte fundierte Fachkräfte in Deutschland werden händeringend überall gesucht in Deutschland, in allen Arbeitsbranchen, und gerade besonders in der IT.
Aber achtet auf eure Work - Life - Balance, laßt euch nicht verheizen und verkauft euch nicht unter Wert, am Arbeitsplatz in der Firma.
Also Leute geht zu DCI und bekommt wieder ein Sinn im Leben. :-)
Ich bin echt rundum zufrieden mit DCI und werde es auch im Bekanntenkreis weiterempfehlen.
