I am currently in the AI Language Learning Models (No Code) in Partnership with MIT, and the course materials are mind-blowing. Everything is 1) explained in detail, 2) supported with clear examples, and 3) explained again through video lectures from experts. I was hesitant when I enrolled because I didn't think I would be smart enough based on my experience at universities - but if every university taught their online classes like this, the world would be full of skilled and intelligent people. Customer service is so easy to work with and quick to respond to, mentored learning sessions are engaging and easy to follow, and the course materials are a treasure. The MIT Applied Data Science Program was an intense yet incredibly rewarding experience. The combination of world-class lectures from MIT faculty, the structured reinforcement of key concepts, and hands-on applications through weekend mentoring sessions by the Great Learning team made for a truly comprehensive and engaging learning journey.

The program organization was instrumental in ensuring a seamless and enriching experience. A special mention to Tanvi, the program manager, who was exceptionally responsive and meticulous in managing every detail.

The mentors, Priyanka and Amish, brought their own practical experience into the live weekend sessions. Their real-world insights helped bridge the gap between theory and application and made the learning process much more impactful.

The structured approach of the program, coupled with expert mentorship, has not only strengthened my data science skills but has also given me the confidence to apply my IT expertise in healthcare to the field of data science. I did not know a single string of code before enrolling in this program. I worked with Excel and formulas, but would still consider my knowledge in that area to be very basic. I am also a single mom and I work full-time in a mentally draining role. I am not what one would consider “math brained“. I do not process numbers as rapidly as most who are enrolled in furthering their education in a field of study such as this. I am much more “engineer minded”; how is something made, why is it done that way, how does one thing affect another thing, etc. Because of these things, this was a very challenging program for me. However, I saw the value that it offered and knew the reason I enrolled was to advance my career with the knowledge learned in this program. If any of this resonates with you, and you are considering enrolling in the program, I found what offset the challenges I faced was my determination to see the program through to the end; because I believed in the knowledge I would gain to help me reach a particular goal. Your commitment to dedicating time to the program will be another key to your success. If you are considering enrolling, I encourage you to get started with the pre-work as soon as possible so you are familiar with the groundwork of code and terminology.  Familiarize yourself with Google Collab, which is the program they use to run code cases. This is what will give you actual experience in implementing the things you will learn. Go ahead and prepare your family to understand that you will have no free time. And I mean that. When I would get home from work, I would eat a very quick bite, and sit down to start my studying/lectures. I did that until around 10-11 o’clock nightly, five days a week. I took my laptop with me to sports functions, I studied in the car, and during my lunch break.  It’s mandatory that you attend the Saturday and Sunday live classes. For two hours on Saturday, and two hours on Sunday, you will be dedicated to watching and participating in a live class. Most of the time, before that class, I was doing something related to that weeks topic. And after the class, due to discussions and expansion on the material, I often had things I wanted to look up and learn about. So when I say you will have no free time, I mean every word of that. It is a small price to pay for being able to take such an extensive course on this topic in such a short time. As adults, we don’t often have the luxury to attend traditional school at this phase in our life. The structure of this course allows us to get the education, and the trade-off is we have to cram it in in a short time frame. I am glad that I pushed myself, even though there were weeks that I literally cried myself through it. So if you decide to do this for yourself, and your career, then don’t be discouraged if you find yourself in a similar situation as you progress through the course. I promise you will make it through, and you will be glad you did. My program manager was very helpful and understanding when I found myself having difficulty in an assignment for whatever reason. If you find yourself facing a challenge, don’t be afraid to honestly communicate your situation to your program manager. They want to see you succeed and are your advocate for encouragement and support during your learning. If you want it bad enough, then you will not regret taking the step to enroll in this course!  Read less
