    Life Changing Experience

I had been learning to code on my own, then I got into Rutgers Coding Bootcamp.

This is when I realized the Rutgers Coding Bootcamp was organized and the program for me. They basically take you from zero coding knowledge to job ready. Job ready means job ready. I got my first job offer and just couldn't believe it. Rutgers Coding Bootcamp has a great career service department where they work with you and show you how to start searching for jobs while...

This is not a course if you are new to coding. They will offer you the world, just remember they are pretty much selling. Thats their job. When its time to look for a job everybody wants either a degree or a couple years of experience. Nobody wants to hire  a noob fresh from boot camp. When I signed up they said 90% hires. That was all BS, salesmen selling. I fell for it. You want a new career as a developer then get a degree, dont waste your money. If you already have experience and a cod...

Hi Anonymous, thank you for your feedback. We regret that your program experience did not live up to your expectations. Our mission is to assist as many hard-working, aspiring developers as possible. As a matter of fact, as you read through feedback on Course Report, you will find several instances of individuals who were successful with no coding experience prior to beginning the course. We designed our program to help individuals with varying proficiency levels, ranging from those who may have more experience to novice self-starters who are seeking a career change. Before starting the boot camp, students are provided 30 hours of pre-work, and we do recommend that those without any previous experience take it a step further and also spend time on free online tutorials in addition to the pre-work. Upon starting the course, we begin by covering the basics, giving students a solid foundation upon which they will build throughout the program. Each lesson iteratively builds on the last, and we find that as the curriculum progresses, students feel more and more confident in the material. Because we know this is a challenging course, we do offer several means of support including office hours, Slack, and free tutoring sessions. Were you able to take advantage of these?

Our professional development services are built on the principle of empowerment. While we do not secure direct employment for students, we offer in-depth job support by helping individuals achieve the 'Seven Milestones to Become Employer Competitive.' Starting in week three, students are provided the tools and templates for developing a personal brand and in the following weeks continue to build a noteworthy online presence, technical resume, and stand-out portfolio. Leading up to week 21, students have the opportunity to prepare for technical interviews by practicing with their Career Director and classmates. We finalize all career ready tools in week 22 to help students receive personalized feedback on their professional materials from their dedicated Profile Coach. We hope you found these resources and assistance to be helpful. We know job seeking is hard and often a full-time job in itself, which is why we encourage individuals to submit a large number of quality applications on a weekly basis to maximize their professional networking and increase the possibilities of securing a well-matched position. We do our best to communicate to individuals that building a career and landing your desired dream role takes hard work and commitment - two key factors that can only be accomplished by the student. Our career services offering is frequently being updated to improve our ability to equip students for the job search, so we appreciate your insight.

We sincerely care about our students, and it is our goal for all students to leave the program feeling equipped with the knowledge and resources to find the right tech role. If there is any other way in which we can support you at this time, please reach out to us at (732) 430-2144.

Congratulations on completing the program, Richard! As you noted, the Rutgers Division of Continuing Studies has partnered with Trilogy Education Services (TES) to offer Rutgers Coding Bootcamp. TES is a leading continuing education program manager that has partnered with more than 25 top universities across the United States to support their skills-based program efforts. This partnership allows participants to learn about the latest technologies in an environment that fosters lifelong learning through our constantly advancing curriculum. We strive to be transparent about this partnership by noting it on our website and during the admissions process. Rutgers Coding Bootcamp and our partners at TES are absolutely passionate about what we do and we thrive on seeing our students succeed.

We intentionally promote a sense of community that encourages students to network and form connections with one another. We do include an admissions process to make sure that those who commit to this course are best equipped to succeed, so we’re glad you found your cohort to be interactive and eager to learn. We are also happy to hear you had a positive and engaging experience with your instructor, Alex - we also think he is pretty great! Alex brings over 8 years of experience using PHP and JavaScript into his role as an instructor. While our program has an intensive vetting process and requires a minimum of five years experience in the tech field, we continue to monitor instructors to ensure that students are receiving the best learning experience possible. We hire active practitioners in lieu of formal professors to best simulate real-life working environments. Throughout our courses, we analyze instructor performance and their levels of classroom engagement, providing feedback to help them develop their teaching. We understand that not all teaching styles will align perfectly with all students, but we do take raised concerns very seriously. Our instructional team works to facilitate a productive and collaborative environment for our students, cognizant of each individual's progress throughout the course.

We design our curriculum based on the latest market skills that students can use to enter the current web development field. As this is a boot camp, our curriculum is fast-paced and designed to cover multiple concepts at a high level in a limited amount of time. Our program prides itself on teaching students how to learn, providing individuals with a strong foundation of skills that allow them to easily dive into other programming languages after the program ends. We understand you would have liked to spend more time focusing on languages and technologies like MySQL and MongoDB, and we appreciate your feedback as we are constantly working on improving our curriculum to ensure students are learning the most valuable skills and languages. As we do take student feedback seriously, the curriculum has been expanded to include two weeks of React.js instead of one.

Our professional development services are built on the principle of empowerment. Our team strives to be clear about the scope of our career services from the beginning so that our students understand how they can get the most out of this aspect of the program. While we do not secure direct employment for our students, we provide them the best tools and support for entering the job market, including resume support, portfolio reviews, 1:1 coaching, technical interview training, and more. We regret to hear that our career support was not what you were hoping for due to the departure of your original Career Director. During the program, we emphasize networking and encourage students to work on projects outside of class that can further their skills and improve their marketability. Like you mentioned, we were able to host a tech talk for your class, so we hope you found this session to be helpful. We know job seeking is hard, which is why we encourage students to submit a large number of quality applications on a weekly basis to increase their chances of finding the right role. We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding our career support and want you to know that we’re still here to assist you in whatever way we can.

It is our goal for all students to leave the program feeling confident in their new set of skills and also feeling prepared for success in the job search. We would love the opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how else we can support you at this time, whether through additional learning materials or career support. Please reach out to me at (732) 430-2144. We wish you the best of luck as you move forward in your endeavors!

The curriculum, staff. and network of peers I have built up from the program helped me enact some profound changes in my life. The program helped me find the skills not only develop full stack web applications right now, but also confidence and knowledge to dive into new software and languages.

This bootcamp excelled at using the classwork, homework, and staff to create an atmosphere I found extremely necessary for learning critical web development skills.

    Awesome course

I attended Rutgers undergrad for computer science for a few semesters and became discouraged by the amount of time I had to spend on work for breadth requirement courses when I wanted to devote most of my time to computer science work.  I'd find myself in the library writing papers and doing homework for courses that I had no interest in, but was forced to take.  Fast forward a few years, and I saw the opportunity to take this Coding Bootcamp and jumped on it immediately.

Congratulations on completing the bootcamp, Jeff! We’re thrilled that you had such a positive experience in this program. As you mention, our full-time schedule is a great way to learn the course material in less time. We love that you enjoyed the condensed nature of the 12 week option so much, that you were wishing for longer classes. And, thank you for bringing up an excellent point, this course does require students to commit time outside of class to studying the concepts, completing assignments, and practicing their skills, this is an important note for future students.

We're so happy that you found your instructor and TAs to be helpful and supportive. We select our instruction team carefully, because we want our students to receive all of the attention and encouragement they need to learn these valuable skills. It’s fantastic that you enjoyed your assignments; it’s exciting for us to see our students develop a passion for web development as they progress through the course curriculum and projects.

After searching for two years on what should I learn next I stumbled into the Rutgers Bootcamp, at first I was skeptical, but after doing some research I decided to join.
