The Tech Academy

I recently graduated from the Software Development Boot Camp at The Tech Academy and had a great experience. The entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly, I never communicated with anyone who made me feel uncomfortable or offended. They work hard to make sure their material is easy to understand and provide assistance through phone, email, screen share, etc whenever necessary.
I enjoyed the projects and challenges they included on the boot camp, my favorite being the Live Project. At the end of my boot camp, I was able to work on a real web application for a local company. Gaining experience on a real application and working on a software development team was priceless. It ended my experience on an extremely high note and gave me the confidence I needed to go job hunting.
After finishing the boot camp, they work with you to assist in your job search. I was contacted regularly to check up and see if I need assistance, emailed leads on a regular basis, and provided feed back on my resume, interview answers, and much more. I had a great time working through my boot camp and would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to gain computer coding skills. Read less

The Tech Academy is an intensive programming boot camp that teaches you exactly what you need to get started in the industry. The instructors were a fantastic resource, and the course material made learning at my own pace a very achievable goal. This boot-camp is great as it will get you off the ground and into a new career! I joined knowing it was going to be a lot of work and was in a position to put in the work needed. There is a lot of content and the ground up approach that they take really teaches you how to learn which will come especially in handy once you graduate. In only 12 weeks I was able to have a portfolio site and several really cool projects to put in it. I finished early and they will let you learn other courses which is really awesome! Now that I am out of the boot-camp I feel confident in my ability to learn other languages while I start work at my new job! I would recommend the Tech Academy to anyone how has the time and energy to put in the work because you will be setup well once you graduate. If I could just summarize my experience with one word it will be WOW! Training at The Tech Academy was a good experience, as a remote student at the time, I was exposed to a lot of things from nearly a dictionary worth of definitions to the amazing internship experience. Communication is definitely one of their strongest suites and it will be yours. One of the core reasons why I decided to go with the Bootcamp is because of the array of languages you will learn that makes it easier for you to learn others outside what you will learn and it looks good on your toolbelt. Andd...... the job assistance which is another intriguing component. Most boot camps that I looked into didn't have that for remote students which is thorough and meaningful, meaning they give you the tools to effectively find the entryway into that amazing career. I took the full time python bootcamp online during the pandemic.  1) what an amazing use of time!  2)  I learned so much in such a great way.  Their online courses are amazing and the support staff who are on call 7 days a week are such a great help when you get stuck.  I highly suggest their courses as you can go into the boot camp with little to no knowledge and come out with a portfolio of projects to show your work.  I was hired for a remote position almost directly after my final project and graduation because of their fantastic job placement course.   Read less

The Tech Academy is very good at giving you a general overview of the information you sign up for. Like they say throughout the course they can't teach you everything but you do learn a lot in a short period of time which of course you will forget some of. Basically know what level of education you want before you sign up and do some research. Besides that, the staff are very helpful and listen to most problems you have. Some parts required me to look for outside help to finish but, that's something most people in tech careers will go though. Basically, know what you're signing up for and putting a lot of time and effort into it and you get what you want in the end. Read less

I enrolled in the python boot camp as a beginner with absolutely no prior knowledge on how computers work. I am so grateful for the instructors at tech academy because they've done a good job communicating with me whenever I was stuck on an assignments. And I am so appreciative for their patience because throughout the entirety of the boot camp, I probably have asked a million questions. It also helps that their response time is insanely fast. As I am get closer to the end of the boot camp, I look forward to building projects and the continued learning that is inevitable for programming. Read less

You will be challenged to learn in a way that supports your future in the industry, with patient and knowledgeable instructors to help along the way. The Tech Academy ensures students have an engaging and rounded curriculum that teaches more than "just" coding. This helps tremendously, learning "tech speak" when applying to work in a technology field without a CS degree. Read less

I had a great experience here.  The instructors were all really nice and helpful, and the curriculum pushed me into some areas that I might not have started learning about for years if I was learning on my own.  I got a job within three weeks of graduating!

Of all the coding bootcamps in Seattle, I chose The Tech Academy for it's hybrid curriculum of on campus and online learning. Luckily for me that it was hybrid, because the Seattle campus is now gone, and once covid19 struck, I was not at all affected in my learning experience. Their staff is very personable and friendly, and always willing to hop onto a google call. The follow up is with Job Assistance is amazing. Would definitely recommend. Read less

When I began my course work with The Tech Academy my background was theater, experiential marketing, and a little bit of STEM back in college. This course is truly designed to acclimate the total "noob" (that's gamer speak for newbie if you don't know) to CS. 

My first go round was going smooth and then life happened about 70% through the Python Boot Camp. Long story short, from July 2019 all the way until, as of this writing, June 2020 my contact at the Academy (big shout out to Lexi) was there for me. Lexi heard my woes, and was always eager to help me find solutions to finish what I've started. Now I'm on course the complete the Front End Development Boot Camp with hopes of coming back to Python soon after I'm working in the tech industry.

Anyway, I have tons of stuff to show in my GitHub profile from this boot camp. I developed really great connections with all of my instructors (even as a remote student). And for those concerned about time zone differences fear not. I live in Detroit, and I was able to communicate with the Tech Academy fine even with the three hour difference, it just took a bit more coordination of schedules.

Yes the classes are great, but I wanted to take a moment to highlight in this review is the personal support, apart from just loops and algorithms, that I received as a student. Thanks again to Lexi for all your hard work and advocating for me! Read less

I really have nothing but good things to say about my whole Software Developer boot camp experience!  I was listed as a mostly remove student, but I did occasionally visit the Portland Campus when I could, and help was available when I needed for either approach.  My favorite part was the live project, it was an excellent simulation on what software developer life could be like and the live project instructors are excellent at pointing you in the right direction when you need them.  I chose this particular boot camp as it was the robust considering the material, and with starting from the most fundamental of lessons, I truly feel I am well prepared to contribute as a junior software developer.  One of the other aspects as to why I chose this boot camp over the others, was the support they offer during the job search.  I learned valuable skills that won't just start me out, but that I'll be utilizing as I travel throughout different career pursuits.   Read less

Going into this bootcamp I was a bit skeptical as to how anyone with no experience writing code could become a full stack software developer in 15 weeks. However, I decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did. The bootcamp is designed with the idea in mind that anyone with no computer experience could come in and easily learn the material. With that being said, the bootcamp is still rigorous and challenges you to think like a programmer so you can function independently in the industry. The curriculum is second to none. Every section is carefully thought out with an increasing level of difficulty. You start out the camp learning the basics of IT and you gradually move on to more difficult topics. I liked that because it gives you a chance to “get your feet wet” instead of overwhelming you with difficult material early on. I also like how they set the curriculum up in a way that in each new section you always build upon what you learned in the last section so it’s never a good idea to skip around. I also liked that at the end of some sections there was an encouragement video that congratulated you for finishing the section and motivated you to continue on. Some sections are kinda hard and those words of encouragement gets you through. The instructors are awesome. They respond super fast and most importantly, they make you feel like no question is a dumb question. I’ll admit I asked Jordan and Ben so many questions and they were never irritated and they were always there. There was a time where I got stuck on a section for a period of time and was unsure of myself and capabilities and they were there to encourage me to keep going. I didn’t get a chance to thank them and I hope they see this review. The Job Assistance department is also great. Angelo is a very good mentor who will consistently push you to bring out the best in you. He gave me a lot of good advice on how to set my resume up. I posted my resume up on a couple job boards and got a handful of calls before I even started filling out job applications which was really exciting. He’s really great at finding job leads and he always checks in on you to see how things are going. In conclusion, my overall experience was great. However, I wanna say that you get what you put into this bootcamp. My BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE for anyone considering The Tech Academy is that if you cannot commit at least 40hrs a week to your studies, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you pick the PART TIME camp. The full time camp was created with the expectation that you will dedicate 8hrs a day. It is very easy to fall behind. Also, if you have any questions don’t be afraid to reach out to an instructor. I recently graduate from The Tech Academy's Software Developer Bootcamp and was more than satisfied with my experience.  Most of the time I worked on the curriculum on campus (in Portland) and the staff were very friendly and helpful.  Rick the student director is a great guy and was very helpful answering my questions.  Lexi, who works at the front desk (admissions) was very friendly and helped me a lot with my schedule.  All the instructors really know their stuff and are more than capable of helping when you get stuck.  Angelo, the jobs placement director has been really helpful with my job search.  Besides the great people who work at The Tech Academy Portland Campus the curriculum itself is great, especially for someone with a lack of experience (like myself).  It really starts at a ground level discussing the fundamental components of a computer and then moving into programming languages with a comfortable but challenging increase in difficulty.  Overall, I don't think I could have picked a better place to begin my programming journey.     Read less

A comprehensive, self-paced course covering a wide scope of topics: technology/programming basics, version control, HTML/CSS, SQL, and C# (including some of the more widely used .NET design paradigms). Even as a remote student living in a different time zone, I found communications from instructors consistently excellent and helpful.

The last part of the boot camp was particularly useful: the Live Project (a team project on a full-scale web application), led by excellent instructors, gave me a chance to integrate all of the knowledge I'd acquired over the past few months, and provided me with some vital real-world experience prior to the start of my job search.  Read less

This was a really great experience! I learned so much about many things I didn't even think would be part of the program. It really put my prior skills to the test as well. From CSS and Javascript to Photoshop and Adobe XD, I feel like an expert. I am excited to get a job soon and I already have some side projects rolling! Read less
