Udacity

This past summer I decided to commit to Udacity's React Nanodegree program.  It is a lot of money for many to consider forking over for a several month / online course, particularly when you can generally learn most of this stuff on your own for free with all of the content available now.  This is how I have learned and picked up my knowledge/skills most of my life, outside of work or school.  While this is true, I am glad I decided to take a chance and give it a try - I will likely be considering more in the future as it is actually a well laid out course and when its all done/finished, you have your very own completed projects ready for your portofolio and reference beyond a good base to really get going with it. 

I would recommend if considering this course to put the time in early and be sure before hand that you have many weekends available to work on the projects.  It would likely help to have some JS/CSS experience before starting this course.  I have a number of years with HTML/PHP/CSS/JS as well as other languages like Arduino/C/CPP/Autoit before starting but found JSX semi-unintuitive at first.  Later on though the JS/CSS really helped finalize the projects, if I needed to learn this as well as JSX it may have been too overwhelming.  As it is, it took me a bit of consistent effort with it to get the hang of it, now I really like it and have built a couple of my own projects with it already after finishing the class.  

Looking back though, the course itself does a good job I think of laying out the content and tip-toeing you the first bit.  The course walks you through the basics and why JSX was developed, then quickly moves you into your first project.  The first project you are provided much of HTML/CSS/Content and to build a working React/JSX searching/sorting/organizing web app.  The last two projects, you are given only a Rubric/guidelines and must built the projects from scratch, one being another web app and the other being a React Native app (in order to build Android/iOS apps using React/JSX).  

The instructor speaks very clearly and does a good job presenting and even codes in the video lessons very well.  It's easy to follow, study and learn from.

The course also gives you access to a discussion board so that you may work/discuss with classmates as well as one of several knowledgeable staff members who are always available to help.  

During the course as well, you are also provided Resume and LinkedIn feedback if you like, it is optional but recommended.  Even if you don't make any of their guideline changes and just want some feedback anyway, it's not graded toward you passing React course or not but ultimately always helpful to get experienced feedback with this kind of thing if looking to get into the field.  I believe Job Assistance could be better but with Udacity it may depend on the specific course program you get into and if you are willing to possibly relocate potentially.  It's my opinion that this React course was not built with intention of getting a React Developer position immediately after though I do believe it is possible, especially if you follow their recommendations:  getting involved with other open source projects, building your portfolio/experience and apply for developer roles.  

There are plenty of resources available though that become available to you during / after the class, so if you put the effort in time you will likely do very well, learn great React/JSX fundamentals and have several new projects you can add to your portoflio.  The really nice thing about React though is that you now have a framework/knowledge to be able to build fully functional applications with JSX which allows you to build applications for essentially every modern device.

I had a very nice experience with Udacity. 

It was my very first experience with the online courses and from the start I understood how Udacity was the best choose I had made. 

The informal online videos, made from professional teacher but also from professional developer, make learning interesting and very productive.

The tutors/mentors follow us and track our learning, in my personal experience they motivated me and made possible to reach the certification. Their work was also 1 to 1 or in community.

The plus for Udacity I think is the community, infact many people around the world share their experience, but they also helps other students. After years I'm still in contact with a lot of collegue, and still we help each other. Udacity learn us how to share our knowledge.

At last but not least, Udacity have a very good career section where students can improve their portfolio, CV, linkedIn profile and many others..

I had a beautiful experience in Udacity, thanks to them I could change my job and role after only 1 month from the certification day.

In my near future I will start other interesting courses.

This course was well thought out, but execution was lacking a bit.  The projects seemed to range from 5-10 minutes, to several weeks (with reviews coming back unclear, etc.).  This course helped me to realize that I DO NOT want a career in marketing analytics; for this, I thank them.  Course was overpriced - they should charge half of what they currently do.

This wasn't my first course I take from Udacity 
the first one was an iOS Developer in 2018 
When I take the iOS Developer, I had experience with iOS developing for two years. But even with that experience, it was beneficial and improving my code skills and my knowledge forward.

This year 2019, I decided to learn  Android Developer.
Because of the fantastic experience with Udacity on the iOS developer course, I decided to take an Android Developer course with them.
But this time, I have 0 knowledge of Android Developing.
So far, it was astonishing I learned everything I need and also more than what I think I will learn on another course.

Why is the Android Developer course different than iOS Developer course? 
Because of an Android Developer course, it's with involvement with Google, which means Google was helping with Udacity to create this excellent course. By finishing this course, you can join the Associate Android Developer and get your certificate from Google.

So what makes Udacity great Bootcamp for learning new stuff?
Udacity lets you're learning from recorded videos and also reading a lot of texts. And it is also connected you with other students by helping each other. And by finished every section on the course, there is a project you must do it on your own. And that is the most part I love about udacity. Especially on learning programming language, If you're learning with video by doing what the lecturer do, by only copying and pasting, you will never learn. And you will suffer a lot when you do your project or work project ! But if you are learning from video and after every section, you do a project on your own. You will learn a lot, and you will test yourself if you did understand the topic very well or not!
After you finish and submit your project, the reviewer will check your project and giving your feedback and tell you're if you are passing the project or not. If not passed, they will let you know why and give you some suggestions that will allow you to fix anything you miss or doing it wrong to passing the project.

You can re-submit multiple times until you pass the project. Believe me, the review and their feedback are perfect and very helpful. Sometimes they give you suggestions that not mention on the course. So you can learn new things!

Udacity, they not only focus on teaching you the course topics.
They also consider on let you get a job after graduating,
By offering you reviewing your Linkedin, Github,CV, and cover letter.
Also, they have a page that lets you learn how to pass the interview and so own. I wouldn't be lying if I told you you could graduate from Udacity and get the job on that field because they will teach you everything you need to know.

Udacity not only from a programmer only, they have multiple courses on marking and AI and also bussines, UX design. 

When you tried Udacity for the first time and graduated, you will come back whenever you what to learn something new.

The first time i studied at Udacity is when I applied to the "1 Million Arab Coders" initiative in early 2018. I got enrolled in the Full-Stack Developer course. In this course, I learned a lot about python programming and scripting. The python programming skill helped me to get employed in the Data Science field.

I got hired one year ago as a Data Analyst. However, I felt that I need to further enhance my Data Science skills to make me confident at my job. I knew that Udacity will be my choice, and I was going to pay for it. Luckily, I applied to a scholarship on Misk Academy to study at Udacity and got accepted. The Data Analyst Nanodegree program was well-contructed and walked me through each step of the data analysis using python pandas library, from data collection, cleansing, analysis to visualization. It helped me to be confident about my skills at work, so I recommend everyone who is interested in the data analytics to take it.

Furthermore, I decided to move forward and take the Data Scientist Nanodegree. Currently im in the second term of the DS program, and I can say that it is very helpful. It covered the machine learning concepts and applications, software engineering, experiment design and recommendations, as well as a capstone project. I also recommend this program for those who are interested in predictive analysis and machine learning.

In summary, Udacity is a very effective projects-based e-learning platform that provides the essential skills for several professions. It helped me a lot, and I plan to continue taking any interesting course at Udacity in the future.

Please, if you only have a little money, don't ever take Udacity, especially if you are a beginner. If you are still reckless, especially if you use someone else's code on GitHub, you will not be able to continue the class and resubmit your project. udacity is not very beginner friendly, and has a strong zero tolerance for plagiarism.

The material provided was very different from the project requested, for me the appropriate rating for Udacity was 1/10, including their poor service, emails were only answered after 1 month. It doesn't deserve to be called an online course Read less

I was hoping to love them. Unfortunately I do not. Firstly, their workstations frequently don't work, or are clunky and poorly designed even if they do. I cannot submit my SQL final project bc their database and workstation won't load. This problem became more and more frequent with the workstations in their Python course. I contacted support a week ago, they have not helped me at all. I have sent follow up emails every other day with screen shots. In addition to their workstations not functioning, and their poor technical and customer support, their lessons keep asking us to complete tasks before they have taught us how to do them. This is frustrating to say the least. As a teacher with 25 years of experience, this is just poor lesson planning.  Read less
