University of Colorado Boulder Cybersecurity Bootcamp by ThriveDX

I signed up for this school a year ago and honestly would not pay this much for this program again. There are programs that are 1/4th cost and offer the same thing. When I signed up I was told by the salesman I would be placed in a job (and that companies come to them they have opportunities to hire you through the school... not true) The salesman who u are lead to believe is a student advisor calls u weekly and encourages you up until you give credit card info. Once u pay they switch student advisors and your second one has no interest in speaking with you. I was then given a 3rd student advisor who was located in Malaysia and had NO CLUE what she was talking about. I would ask her so many questions and she would just tell me, I will get back to you... She never would get back to me.... As far as the job advisors I also had THREE which is extremely frustrating because they all tell you different things. The first one and last one were pretty good but the second one had zero interest in helping me and suggested I turn my resume into a bunch of bullet points (Terrible idea it made my resume 7 pages long)   Many of the instructors had Audio issues and internet issues. When you bring this up nothing really changes. U are asked to fill out a form every two weeks. U can check I want someone to contact me about the issues, no one ever will. I would write paragraphs explaining the issues and no one would ever reach out to fix it.  Some teacher were amazing though, truly knew how to teach. Some teachers knew what they were talking about but didn't know how to teach. Thrive TDX areana is a tool they give you, it wont ever load in class for me the teachers or anyone. The teachers will say you dont have to do the projects and when you get to the end the job people will want you to put that on your resume.... So clearly zero communication between departments.  Overall Id say don't fall for their promise you the world pitch in the beginning because once you are paid for they don't really seem to care about you as much. I signed up for this program thinking I would be able to find a work from home job, the sales person assured me they get opportunities all the time about work from home jobs. They do not and its extremely hard to get a job from home without any certifications which YOU WILL NOT GET FROM DOING THIS. I did this to get out of sales and they will try to push you into a sales job because those seem to be the only opportunities they get. Every course you complete you get a badge to share on LinkedIn for potential employers to see. The only problem is you have to beg the school to send them to you. I finished my program in November and I am still missing the last one. I had to escalate this entire situation to their boss and finally got it. Which just tells me the people below her have no idea what they are doing and do not reflect the price tag. I shouldn't have to beg the company I just gave twenty grand too do what they said they would do. Buyer Beware... Do yourself a favor and just go to try hack me.com to learn the basics and then pay for a Sec+ class instead of giving them 20k This program is not worth more than 1000 bucks in my opinion. I have poof for every single thing I wrote so If course report wants to see it, Id be more than willing to share. I know I am not the only one in my class who feels this way... This course was awesome. Gave a great overarching view of the Cybersecurity world which gave me the knowledge to decide what I wanted to focus on. Within 6 months of finishing the program I landed a job within the industry through the help of the excellent career coaching team. Highly recommend this course. Read less

I wouldn’t be where I am in life right now without this program. The program itself was very hands on and provided actual professionals in the field as opposed to teachers, so it set you up for success right from the beginning. I was able to change fields completely within three months of graduating, and the career counselors were fundamental in me finding the job opportunity.  Read less

Overall a great set of courses and great team building. I learned a lot from this and recommend but must be willing to put in the work out of class to learn and study for certifications. There were times we had a tough time but as long as you talk to advisor and teachers they will get you the help you need. Read less

Representatives of this company intentionally deceived me into believing that this program was accredited and affiliated with the University of Colorado Boulder. However, I discovered halfway through that it is neither the university's program nor accredited in any capacity. Despite this, they have refused to allow me to withdraw from the program and have failed to deliver many of the promised services. To make matters worse, they have charged me over $17,800 while failing to provide the services that were explicitly listed as part of the program. They also repeatedly stated that this was a program for beginners and those with no experience, this couldn't be farther from the truth! I took the intro course in July of 2022 and went through with the advanced course and finished May 2023. The intro course was very interesting and covered a lot of ground for the field I wanted to study. The extended course however, seemed to not offer as much as I hoped. Don’t get me wrong, it had lots of amazing instructors and information. But it all felt like “busy work”. I didn’t feel as if I REALLY learned a whole lot besides the absolute basics. The course is definitely good, your outcome just depends on how much you’re willing to put into it. I put as much as I could but was still left wishing I had more in-depth information on the subjects I studied. At the end of the day, it’s a great start to a cybersecurity or IT career if you have the money and the drive to do the course. But don’t expect to get any sort of “field training”. You’ll need to pursue that elsewhere. Also, you’ll get a career coach to help with resume building and job searching, however if you’re brand new to either of those, it won’t be very helpful as most of the information is very vague and generalized.  Read less
