I’ve always found all these subjects too dry and pestering. By chance, I received a DataCamp scholarship and decided to give data science a go. I started to learn R from DataCamp with zero previous knowledge about coding or programming. I was amazed and fascinated by the way DataCamp is able to simply it to the level of an absolute beginner and then provide a learning curve which I was able to grasp. The courses were fun and extremely well balanced. Every day I learnt something new and practiced it the next day with their practice sessions which are included in the subscription. This reinforced my knowledge and accelerated my learning speed. Before I knew it, I was reading code like I was reading a language like english or spanish. I was surprised by myself when I realised I had actually starting getting a hang of it. Kind of got addicted to learning more and more and now I’m fully hooked. Their career track on Data Analyst in R helped me tremendously in accelerating my medical research career and now i’m fully on track to become a certified data analyst.

I already had experience in web development and programming, but I wanted stronger skills in Machine Learning, NLP, and deployment.What I liked most about the program was that it focused heavily on hands-on work instead of only theory. We worked on practical tasks, evaluations, and projects throughout the program, which helped me understand how to apply concepts in real scenarios. The NLP and ML in Production modules were probably my favorite because they introduced tools and workflows that are actually used in industry.One thing that surprised me was how much deployment and infrastructure matter in AI projects. Before the program, I mostly focused on model building, but during the training I learned more about Docker, APIs, vector databases, and deploying applications to cloud platforms. That changed the way I think about AI systems because I started seeing them as complete products, not just notebooks or experiments.For our capstone project, my teammates and I built EduPath AI, an AI-powered platform that helps Lebanese University students discover suitable majors and career paths. We used a Random Forest model for recommendations and built a RAG based chatbot using Weaviate and LLM tools. Seeing the project go from an idea to a deployed application was honestly one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.The mentorship and community also made a big difference. The mentors were supportive and always encouraged us to solve problems ourselves while still guiding us when needed. The career fair and networking opportunities also gave us exposure to industry expectations and helped connect technical learning with real career paths.Overall, the program helped me improve both technically and professionally. I feel much more confident working on AI projects now, especially in NLP, ML deployment, and building scalable applications. I’m planning to continue developing AI-powered systems and applying what I learned to real world software solutions and future projects.

I really enjoyed my time at iO Academy. I chose this bootcamp mostly because it seemed to me that they proposed the most complete curriculum and they did not diI really enjoyed my time at iO Academy. I chose this bootcamp mostly because it seemed to me that they proposed the most complete curriculum and they did not disappoint! It was a very intense learning experience, but it is delivered in the best conditions:- small cohorts (up to 8 students) so it is always possible to ask questions and interact with the trainers
- amazing trainers, always available and supportive
- carefully crafted curriculum, it really felt like they refined it year after year to find the best way and timing to go through the curriculum, so I never felt overwhelmed
I also want to point out that they put a really big emphasis on how to work as a software engineer (e.g. working in an Agile team) and not just how to code. I found this extremely valuable (maybe more than the coding?) as it is a huge part of the job and I arrived in my 1st software engineer position really well prepared and knowing what to expect. On the coding side, they were dedicated to teaching us best coding practices. I am currently working in my 1st position as a software developer and so far my line manager has been pleasantly surprised by how much I've learned at iO Academy!
It took me a 4/5 months to land a job but the job market is a bit tough at the moment. I got some valuable advice from their career consultant which helped me land my current position. I would not necessarily expect to just walk into a job straight after the bootcamp (some of the students of my cohort did though!). iO Academy was definitely worth the time and the investment, and I would totally do it again!
