I've had an interest in Data Science and AI-related topics for a while, but was never quite sure how I would go about preparing myself for the field. I had taken some smaller individual courses, which helped, but I felt I need more.
Springboard emerged as the best all-around solution for me. Their bootcamp is compact and dense (suggested 6-7 months), but trainees have the option to proceed at their own pace. The flexibility is invaluable, especially for folks who are working full-time and have other obligations. The curriculum was awesome and one of the strongest reasons for me in choosing this program. It covered so much - Data Science Method, Python programming, Data Visualization, Statistics, Machine Learning and AI, Big Data, etc. It also provided a ton of hands-on experience which really helped to build confidence in the material. All along the way, I was helped by the Springboard staff who were simply amazing! From my first call (an assessment of my suitability for the program) to my invaluable weekly mentor calls, career coaching calls, to my course completion emails and discussion, they have always been knowledgeable, super positive and done all they can to support my progress. I cannot recommend Springboard enough!

I loved my experience at Skillcrush in the UX design track. I was originally looking for a synchronous program because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep myself motivated in a self-paced program with no true deadlines (which was also the reason I didn’t do self-study using all the free resources on the internet).
I ended up choosing Skillcrush because 1) it fit my budget and 2) it was beginner friendly. I had worked as a mental health counselor for 13 years before deciding to pursue a second career, so Skillcrush was super helpful to learn the basics of UX design.
I definitely needed to go above and beyond the coursework, though, in order to really feel comfortable with the concepts and tools. In addition to the class projects, I got hands-on experience by volunteering, doing freelance jobs, and working a part-time contract position.
In the end, Skillcrush was the first step and the foundation of my new career. Seeking my own opportunities for real-world design experience was the second step. The third step was that I built connections with other designers, both in-person and online, which led to getting my current full-time design job.
While Skillcrush won’t get you all the way (I honestly don’t think any program can do that), it was an essential part of my career transition journey. It took me about 2 and a half years to complete the UX design track (while working a full-time counseling job). I’d highly recommend Skillcrush to people who want to learn the basic design concepts, need flexibility, and are prepared to put in additional time and effort to gain experience.

There is structure and discipline around attendance and expectations, but also understanding that people have lives outside the bootcamp.Another strong point is the alumni support. There are clear paths depending on what you want to do next, whether that’s finding a job, freelancing, or building something of your own. The job seeker track in particular is well thought through and creates real opportunities once completed.If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the pace. The content is quite packed, and extending the program slightly could allow for deeper absorption and more practice.Overall, it was an amazing experience. Whenever I hit a problem (which happened often as a beginner!), I could simply book a call with my tutor. They were always on time sometimes even early for our live sessions. That reliability made a huge difference when I was feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
The weekly scheduled classes were shared well ahead of time, which made it easy to plan my week around them. Every person assisting me from tutors to support staff genuinely wanted to help me get the best results and fully understand each concept before moving on.
Yes, it was stressful at times, especially fitting everything into a short time frame. But HyperionDev was right there with me through every challenge, making sure I never felt alone in my learning journey.
