Actualize is an online software engineering bootcamp based in Chicago that offers part-time and full-time bootcamp options. Instructors with professional educational experience teach students full stack web development including Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, VueJS, SQL, and Git. The Online Live classes are conducted in real time with video conferencing. Actualize has a deeply integrated “Job Hacking” curriculum focused on the personal branding and networking skills necessary to land a new job, which Actualize feels is just as important as learning to code.

To apply, students can submit an application via the website, then go through a series of two interviews with an admissions advisor. There are no coding challenges, but students must complete 4 weeks of prework before the program starts.

After the program, students have the option to join its unique Career Support program, which contains additional training for Job Hacking, a job accountability group, and team projects to add to one’s portfolio.

    Great Experience

Learned a ton in this time that I would have never been able to learn on my own during the same timeframe. Excellent, engaging, and attentive instruction and good job tools.

After a long bootcamp search, I reached the ultimate destination when I chose Actualize. While I could go on and on about the strong instruction, thoughtful curriculum and powerful collaboration, the most impressive thing about Actualize is they are exactly who they say they are. Check out their website-- everything you read is true! Do it, take the leap-- they will catch you and walk you straight into the rest of your life!

    personal experience

I had a great experience at Actualize. I feel I have learned a lot from a fabulous instructor and TA's. The resources and assistance provided exceeds expectations and really helps lead to success, both in the program and after completion. I would and have recommended Actualize to anyone looking to get into software development. I started with practically no knowledge or experience in coding and finished feeling like I am capable to continue improving over time.

    Worth it

I picked this bootcamp based off of reviews on this site, the schedule they had available, and conversations with friends. I didn't do as much research beforehand as I probably should have, and I feel lucky that I had made a good decision.

Actualize's teaching philosophy is teaching us how to learn. They won't go over every possible technology simply because it isn't necessary. Instead, we dived deep into developing an understanding of how our code is interpreted by the ...

    Great Bootcamp!!!

I found Actualize because a client of mine said a couple of co-workers went through it and they learned a ton. I liked that they offered a mid-day option and it was affordable for the amount of instruction and job assistance offered post-course. The course was unique because it had 5 weeks of pre-work which was self-led that gave you enough background knowledge to begin the 12 week live instruction portion. I felt that even with minimal coding experience before the 5 weeks of pre-work, t...

    Highly Recommend

I was initially pointed to this bootcamp by a family friend and former graduate, and I was not disappointed. I am confident that I have everything I need to get a job in web development and to pursue other interests that weren't covered, like game design. While the curriculum is grueling, so long as you are willing to put in the work your instructor will not leave you behind. There is also the fact that you will have a support system for finding a job after you graduate, and you will hav...

    From luddite to power-user.

Before actualize I had a love-hate relationship with computers. I loved what they could do, but I hated that I didn't know how they did it. Thanks to actualize I now simply love computers. This is truly a bootcamp for anyone with the time and energy to commit to it. This program will teach you to utilize a computer as it was meant to be utilized: efficiently. Furthermore you learn everything from the basics to pushing your self-crafted website to to the real live web. The most important ...

Actualize is a place that takes what an ideal classroom would look like and makes it a reality. Not only are we taught a vast amount of important technical skills, we are also taught how to think, learn and achieve things we didn't think we could. The instructors are supportive and loving and really put their all into the students. I feel like my experience in learning, collaboration and my view of what is possible has been changed forever. Thank you for teaching me that I am enough.

    Great Bootcamp

This bootcamp was great for me because there was a great balance between learning to program and preparation for the job search. Even if i could teach myself to program to the level that I now can, I would not have the support they provided regarding resume creation, networking, and job applications. Highly recommend.

    Best decision I've made

I made an extremely hard choice coming to Actualize. Leave my comfortable but ultimately dead-end job for something that I might hate? I tried learning how to code online and always ran into walls, ran out of motivation, just burnt out. Is this going to be super intense? What if I fail... how do I explain that to my family and friends?
I really wish I could go back in time and slap myself in the face and tell myself to just do it. I had no idea that I would actually have FUN with all ...

How do you get a job after coding bootcamp if you have no relevant, real-world work experience? Only 1.4% of bootcampers have worked as developers in the past, but most career-changers have little – if any– client experience when they start looking for a developer job. Some bootcamps help students overcome this hurdle by offering opportunities to work for the bootcamp itself, or with rea...
