BrainStation

It's a 12 week course for web development. I had a past degree in comp sci from 8 years ago and did not put it to long term use, so I was very rusty. This course was extremely useful. It teaches HTML, CSS & SASS, Javascript with React, backend with NodeJS, learning about HTTPS and api calls, database management with mySQL, and numerous other things too. Be warned, it moves at a very fast pace! It's not a big deal for HTML and CSS, but it will be very very challenging once you get into Javascript and onwards for people with no programming experience. I encourage anyone with no experience to take some free online courses in programming before beginning. You can check out freecodecamp.org for that.

I had two main teachers and one teacher's assistant. The teachers were very knowledgeable and nice. I feel like they did their best considering how fast the pace is. Even teaching 9-5, it can be tough to cram all the necessary stuff in for learning. This bootcamp also has a really nice career assistance program that helps you out throughout 12 weeks to prepare your resume, linkedin profile, and even sets up some events for you to meet with industry people in the area.

My class only had 9 people starting, but I think there's typically more. Overall it is an extremely useful course for rapidly gaining skill and getting prepared for the job market. You work on individual projects for most of it, but then some group projects at the end. They also teach you about using git and Github for version control, and the group projects are great for getting the most experience with that. Again, I recommend that anyone with no programming experience should first do some online courses to learn some programming and get a bit of a foundation. Otherwise, this program was great. At the time of writing, I am in my last three weeks. But the career center is there to help you out long after the course finishes. Read less

This was a great course that started with basics of Python and then moved into Data Science concepts like visualization, data cleaning, pandas and machine learning. I was very impressed with my whole experience at BrainStation! From the application process to attending the online UX Design Certificate Program. The online learning platform was easy to navigate and the whole curriculum was very organized, leaving us with a solid foundation and understating of UX principles. The overall experience is great! Brainstation UX design program gave me systematical learning of UX design. It is very detail structured and supported by well-designed sprints. By the end of the program, you will have all you need to prepare for the portfolio. The career success team is absolute a plus of the program. You can reach out to them if you have any questions while preparing for the interviews or going through the job application. It is definitely hard to find the first job, but as long as you follow the program structure, and believe in the process, you will find the path. Read less

As an interested person in UX Design, I enrolled in the BrainStation bootcamp after seeing an ad on Instagram.
They immediately reached out to me and interviewed me to make sure that UX Design would be the right path for me (which I found a nice touch to make sure that I made the right decision).
As a student, the experience was delightful, the instructors were knowledgeable and flexible and made it a really fun and fruitful experience. The projects were intriguing, the material taught was based on the real-life design process, and we had the opportunity to work on multiple team projects as well as individual ones. The course delivery was virtual but we had to attend the classes every day from 9 am to 5 pm which was, to me, the best way to learn and remain dedicated.
As a graduate, the support continued while I was looking for a job, especially from Mina, she was and still is amazing and helpful! Read less

The course is well designed and is delivered entirely online in real-time. The cadance of class is once a week and 3 hours per course. In every class, there is some assignment assigned and there would be a break-out session during the class, allowing people to tackle the questions taught in class together. Read less

BrainStation is a great place to start if you want to get your foot in the door for Tech. They offer a wide range of programs and the instructors are extremely helpful. The classrooms are smaller which makes it much less intimidating to ask questions. The instructors are responsive outside of class that can help you with your homework. Highly recommend!  Read less

I started my five-week online course without any knowledge of UX Design. I didn't know where to begin, though I found the idea of UX Design interesting so I searched online and found BrainStation. I read reviews and stories of others who chose to learn from them and it all seemed positive, so I booked a call with a learning advisor. 

My learning advisor was so helpful and lovely and assisted me from start to finish with the enrolling process. I chose the 5-week course which meant everything in the 10-week course would be condensed to double content every lesson but since I am not working at the moment, I decided that's fine for me. I think if anyone is working full time and would like to do the 5-week UX Design course too, be prepared to do quite a bit of work outside of your normal working hours. The rest of my learning cohort are full-time working adults and I can see how it might be a bit more difficult for them to do the homework tasks as it can be quite time-consuming. If you wish to have a bit more relaxation time whilst working full-time AND attend the course, I think the 10-week course would be better suited for you. It would be the same amount of content but spaced out across ten weeks.

As for my teachers and cohort? LOVELY PEOPLE! I don't know if every course has a main teacher and an assistant teacher but mine did and they are both patient and explain everything so well. From the fact I knew basically nothing about UX design before starting the course, I can confidently say I am ready to start a career in it. Everything I have learned in my course was content that I used to start my portfolio. 
It has been such an experience and I am so happy I enrolled. Definitely worth the money I would say and I absolutely recommend the UX Design course at BrainStation or any course from them if their teaching standard is as high as in my course, for the other courses!

The bootcamp is 12 weeks and has (to most) an intensive workload. There is a mix of solo assignments, lab work, group projects, and solo projects. Although it may seem like a lot, the work is highly relevant to today's industry standards and is totally worth putting effort into. Read less

BrainStation's UX bootcamp taught me design skills that I hadn't been able to develop in my previous career. Instructors have valuable industry experience and assignments push you to apply the knowledge you learn in daily lessons. I met really smart, talented people and am excited to follow their design careers, The program required long hours of hard work and there were opportunities for improvement regarding the communication of assignment details, but overall I considered the program an excellent investment. Having access to their Career Success team was especially valuable. Emma worked with me to optimize my job applications and keep me accountable through the job hunt after graduation. I landed the design role I was hoping for and came away from the process with networking skills I'll be using in the future to progress my career. Read less

In my 40s, in the middle of a pandemic, I decided to make a career transition backing to #UserExperience, #UserInterface, and #WebDevelopment; supported by my family and close friends, I took the shot.

Honestly, it was not easy at all going back to school. However, at BrainStation, I felt respected by its staff, who knows how a #Bootcamp has a diverse audience and different life stories.

During the full-time intensive 12 weeks program, I learned solid user-centric design foundations. Also, I have learned many new tools, such as Figma, which I admit I did not like at first glance, but now I am in love with.

About 3 months after my graduation, I am so delighted to inform that I have already landed my first job as a #UX, #UI Designer, and Front-end Developer.

I am so grateful for the considerable shot taken that had transformed my life, and now it's time to get my hands dirty #researching, #sketching, #wireframing, #prototyping, #testing, and #coding.

My experience at BrainStation was excellent. Looing to make a career transition is a huge undertaking, and the team there makes it so manageable and enjoyable. I attended the online cohort at the start of 2022. We had 2 big classes start at the same time, with an incredible group of students. Though we were a lot of students, the Education team made sure we felt supported. With time in one-on-ones, I was able to get the support I needed. The program is incredibly fast-paced, however, they prepare you so thoroughly for the workforce it's amazing. The network of BrainStation alumni is incredible, that is how I got my job offer. Demo Day I had a hiring partner reach out to me right after my presentation, and that is who I ended up accepting a job offer from. The 6 months of job hunt support after graduation is also huge. It can be a daunting process left alone to fend for yourself, so the fact that they offer feedback, one-on-ones, and mock interviews is incredible. Overall it just seemed crazy to me that in just 12 weeks they were able to get us from nothing to full-stack. Still, having recently graduated from the course I can personally tell you that my classmates and I were fairly confident in our abilities by graduation. Of course, each outcome is as diverse as its participants coming in, but overall, we can all create full-stack applications. 
I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to either seek employment or just create full-stack web apps. Read less

I attended the BrainStation UX Design Bootcamp because I wanted to transition into the tech industry. I really enjoy my time there. My educators, TAs, and colleagues were all very knowledgeable supportive. We had the opportunity to complete a capstone project over the course of 12 weeks and presented to industry leaders on Demo Day. We also did two design sprints and one hackathon. BrainStation hosted many PowerTalks to allow industry professionals to chat about their career transition journey. It was super helpful! Though it was an intense full-time program, I learned so much and felt prepared for job hunt. With the help of the career educators, I landed my first contract position one month after graduating.
