Learn the fundamentals before starting is vital because once you fall behind in the actual program it's very difficult to get back on track. I spent a lot of time browsing different schools on course report weighing the pros and cons of different bootcamps before I ended up choosing BrainStation based on all the positive reviews and more importantly the vast amounts of graduates that ended...I spent a lot of time browsing different schools on course report weighing the pros and cons of different bootcamps before I ended up choosing BrainStation based on all the positive reviews and more importantly the vast amounts of graduates that ended up in big name companies. Even then I wasn't sure I had made the right decision but I am so glad I chose BrainStation.
The main instructor for the course, Daniil, was really good at explaining some of the more difficult concepts in simpler terms which was extremely helpful for us to grasp the ideas. We also worked with a couple other instructors (Michael Dismatsek and Andrew Carolan) who both had different and unique approaches in helping us pick up techniques and concepts as well. We were even able to experience working on real projects with people in cross-disciplines which is something I didn't even know I needed till I had experienced it.
The course is very fast paced and challenging but I honestly can say they provide all the means to help you achieve success if you put in the work and effort. I feel confident saying this being one month out of the bootcamp and having landed a position as a web developer. I definitely feel a little bit lucky but also going through the interview process I realize that each part of the bootcamp had prepared me with experience and the knowledge that was being asked of me. Also a final thing that I must mention is that the career service after the bootcamp is really invaluable. They are serious when they say the bootcamp doesn't just end and you're on your own.
