Attending Codeup itself was a great experience. I met great people and felt supported in learning material that was very unfamiliar to me. To be completely honest, it gave me a platform to be in front of the right people and be in the right community. I was called right after our Demo Day by multiple recruiters and that certainly would not have happened if I hadn’t attended Codeup. While I personally couldn’t see myself having a career in coding, attending Codeup allowed me obtain an amazing career in technology that was right for me. If you’re looking to begin a career in development or other tech roles, I highly recommend going to Codeup!

I graduated back in 2018 from the full-stack program after getting out of the Army. My experience while I was attending was nothing but positive, the instructors were very knowledge-able and always ready to help if I needed it. Codeup's course content is structured to be beginner friendly and is also project driven so I always felt like I actually working on the skills I was learning rather than just reading about it. Codeup's instructors and job placement team helped prepare me for my first job a week after graduating and I've just been growing since then thanks to the skills I learned there. A few years later and I'm still recommending people to Codeup if they are looking to get into software development as a first choice. 

I was stuck between choosing a CS degree and a coding bootcamp after I got out of the Army and took the chance on Codeup. I can say that choosing Codeup has been the best decision I've made for my career in the software industry. I don't believe I would be in my current position had I not chose Codeup then, it really launched me into my career. I attended Codeup's Full Stack Web Development Course. I was hired as a Cloud Solutions Engineer at Oracle in Austin after completion of the program. Choosing to attend a CS bootcamp was the best investment I could have made for myself professionally. I benefited from a program that prioritized in person lectures, offered an extensive professional network, and academic support.

Instructors at Codeup have deep expertise in Software Engineering. They provide the best quality instruction and are eager to suppor their students one on one. Codeup's classrooms are strategicall located in San Antonio's growing tech community at the heart of downtown. Walking distance away from Codeup's campus, students have access to Geekdom, a startup incubator. It's a perfect opportunity to network and meet like minded engineers and entrepeneurs. The Friday socials are a big plus too!

I graduated from Codeup's inaugural Data Science program in San Antonio in 2019 and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have been a licensed petroleum engineer for many years but have drifted away from practical coding and analytical skills that are so important. Codeup jump-started data science and machine learning techniques and gave me the practical skills to apply them in-depth. It was far beyond what I had been doing in Excel that there was no comparison. I use these methods daily, which opened up new analytics to augment my engineering modeling.

  

My experience at Codeup was great. I always felt like the staff at Codeup was invested in my success. The instructors were knowledgeable and delivered the curriculum in a way that was easy to follow. They also had availability for one on one tutoring outside of class hours. The exercises were challenging enough to make me feel accomplished at the end but also left room for additional challenges outside of the expected outcome. The course prepared me to adapt and learn coding technologies. The placement team got me in front of two potential employers within a week of graduating. Codeup was great for me. Everything about it set me up for success in this field.

  Codeup was where I was able to achieve my dream of actually creating something through technology instead of always fixing it.  They taught me how to create web applications by teaching the basics of html/css then diving into Javascript and Java to make more intricate applications.  Teaching by way of practice, each big end of a curriculum point you work in a team to create a project to specifics based on what learned, using knowledge building up as go further into the course.

The instructors were well versed in their teachings, always happy to help at any point and provide guidance, not just the answers.  Codeup also provided assistance with finding jobs by bringing in recruiters and actual hiring managers to interview for positions, they prepared us for these interviews and gave solid experience for future ones that use even today.  Was able to be hired before the course ended and started job week after finishing, highly recommend if have the time and financial ability to attend, this great place to get into the full-stack career path.

I think Codeup is the premier web development boot camp in San Antonio. The application process was straightforward and the coding assignments they give at this point provide a good gauge for the material you'll be working on during the boot camp. Also, Codeup is a great option for veterans since the program can be funded by the GI Bill.

Once you're accepted to the program, you will be given pre-work to complete to give you the fundamentals before starting the boot camp. I recommend you complete the pre-work since you will be very familiar with the first few weeks of material if you do and you will have an easier time getting used to the fast pace of the material. Topics are covered quickly and you will be given projects to reinforce the skills you learn. I think that you will get what you put into the program, so if you're struggling with a topic, make sure to put in the extra time after class to really understand. Some people will grasp concepts quicker than others, but this isn't something that cannot be overcome with extra practice. Also, the curriculum is available online, so you can review it at home, and is available to you after you complete the program too!

The capstone project is the culmination of your hard work during the boot camp. You get the experience of software delivery from the planning phase all the way to production deployment. It is also a great way to practice source control while collaborating with other developers. Even though the capstone is a project, the application you develop is real and will be available for users to interact with. The capstone presentation is also a good way to practice your communication skills since speaking in groups and talking about development work to non-technical audiences are skills that can set you apart as a software developer.

Finally, the support for finding your first job as a software developer is top-notch. Codeup has partnerships with many of the key tech companies in San Antonio like Accenture, USAA, and HEB. Many of these companies will recognize the training from Codeup in lieu of a computer science degree or 1-2 years of experience. Similar to the rest of the program, you have to put in the work at this point as well. You can expect to submit multiple job applications during the week and attend any networking events that occur. It may sound like any other job hunt, but it is nice knowing that you have the support of the Codeup placement staff working with their partners to find a job for you. If you put in the work and you can't find a job within 6 months, you're refunded the tuition to Codeup, so that's a bonus too.

Codeup was a great experience for me and I would not have had my career as a software developer without them. The program helps you quickly gain the skills you need to be an entry-level developer and is more affordable than a 4-year computer science degree. Now that Codeup is accredited, you have financial aid options similar to universities and if you're a veteran, it can be funded with the GI Bill or the VETTEC program. The curriculum is well organized and available to you after you complete the boot camp, but I think having dedicated instructors with experience that you can get help from is what sets the program apart from other programs. Lastly, the job search support from the placement team completes the package which makes Codeup the premier boot camp in San Antonio!
